Background: Due to the influence of traditional Chinese culture, many cholelithiasis patients refuse to undergo cholecystectomy. This has prompted surgeons to consider a new treatment option for gallstones, which preserves the gallbladder, termed as choledochoscopic gallbladder-preserving cholecystolithotomy. In this study, we reviewed the clinical outcomes of 23 years of single-center application of choledochoscopic gallbladder-preserving cholecystolithotomy.

Background: Ligamentoid fibromatosis is a rare borderline tumor that occurs in the muscles, fascia, and aponeurosis. It is a kind of soft tissue tumor of fibrous origin, also known as invasive fibromatosis, desmoid fibroma, neurofibromatosis, . The tumor is between benign and malignant tumors and rarely has distant metastasis.

Cholinergic disorder, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation play important roles in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. To explore the healthy potential of the edible seaweed Hizikia fusiforme on this aspect, a functional oil (HFFO) was extracted from this alga and investigated on its constituents by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) in this study. Its anti-Alzheimer's related bioactivities including acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition, antioxidation, and anti-neuroinflammation were evaluated, traced, and simulated by in vitro and in silico methods.

Background: Robotic surgery has been used successfully in many branches of surgery, but there is little evidence in the literature on its use in rectal cancer (RC). We conducted this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-randomized controlled trials (NRCTs) to evaluate whether the safety and efficacy of robotic total mesorectal excision (RTME) in patients with RC are equivalent to those of laparoscopic TME (LTME).

Methods: Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Ovid, and Web of Science databases were searched.

A gene encoding Rhizopus oryzae lipase containing prosequence (ProROL) was cloned into the pPICZαA and electrotransformed into the Pichia pastoris X-33 strain. The lipase was functionally expressed and secreted in Pichia pastoris with a molecular weight of 35 kDa. The maximum lipase activity of recombinant lipase (rProROL) was 21,000 U/mL, which was obtained in a fed-batch cultivation after 168 h induction with methanol in a 50-L bioreactor.

Listeria monocytogenes is a food-borne pathogen of significant threat to public health. High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment can be used to control Listeria monocytogenes in food. The CtsR (class three stress gene repressor) protein negatively regulates the expression of class III heat shock genes.

Recently, many of the complexities associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) have been unlocked. However, despite these breakthroughs, CVD and its related complications are the leading contributors of morbidity and mortality worldwide, which indicates the shortcomings of current treatment regimens and the need for continued research. Published data within the field clearly indicates that CVD are built on inflammation and autoimmune platforms, though a strong, fundamental understanding of the mechanisms remains elusive.

Objective: The preferred amino acids in the proteolytic sites have been considered to be similar between caspase-1 and caspase-9, which do not support their differential functions in inflammatory pyroptosis and apoptosis. We attempted to solve this problem.

Methods: We analyzed the flanking 20 amino acid residues in the cleavage sites in 34 caspase-1 and 11 capase-9 experimentally identified substrates.

Objective: To discuss the feasibility of the operation of minimal invasive with gallbladder preserved via choledochoscopy.

Methods: From February 1992 to June 2006, there were 760 patients who underwent cholecystolithiasis treated with the minimal invasive operation with gallbladder preserved via choledochoscopy, among which there were 428 males and 332 females, aged from 18 to 81 years old. All cases were diagnosed by ultrasonography and their gallbladder functions were proved normal by the examination of oral cholecystography or ECT before operation.

Objective: To evaluate the value of 64-slice helical CT in screening of coronary artery heart disease among apparently healthy people and to explore the specific operation thereof.

Methods: Toshiba Aquilino 64-slice helical CT machine was used to scan the scope from the tracheal carina to cardio-diaphragmatic plain among 286 apparently healthy persons aged 40 approximately 78, 188 males and 98 females, with at least one risk factor of coronary artery heart disease, after the contrast Iopamidol was injected. The data thus obtained underwent after-finishing screen are with the techniques of volume reconstruction, multiplanar reconstruction, curve planar reconstruction, and 3-D reconstruction so as to demonstrate the abnormalities of coronary artery.

Aim: To identify the distribution of N-acetyltrasferase 2(NAT2) polymorphism in Hebei Han Chinese and the effects of the polymorphism on the development of colorectal cancer.

Methods: We performed a hospital-based case-control study of 237 healthy individuals and 83 colorectal cancer patients of Hebei Han Chinese. DNA was extracted from peripheral blood and cancer tissues.
