Analysis of risk factors related to acute exacerbation in patients with chronic pancreatitis: a retrospective study of 313 cases from a single center in China.

Background: Acute on chronic pancreatitis(ACP) is a common cause of treatment in patients with chronic pancreatitis(CP). However, as far as we know, research on ACP has been few, and the quality may vary. This study intended to explore the risk factors related to acute exacerbation in patients with chronic pancreatitis.

P21 activated kinase 2 promotes pancreatic cancer growth and metastasis.

Pancreatic cancer has an overall 5-year survival rate of only 9%, due to its rapid metastasis and poor prognosis. To combat this disease, novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers are required. In this study, immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of P21 activated kinase 2 (PAK2) protein in the tissues of cancer and the paired adjacent normal tissues.

Short-term clinical effects of photodynamic therapy with topical 5-aminolevulinic acid for facial acne conglobata: an open, prospective, parallel-arm trial.

Background: Acne conglobata is hardly curable and easily leads to scar formation after treatment using traditional methods.

Aim: To develop a novel way to treat acne conglobata.

Methods: Seventy-five patients with facial acne conglobata were included in this clinical study and divided into either a treatment group (n = 35) to receive photodynamic therapy (PDT) with topical 5% 5-aminolevulinic acid and red light once every 10 days for a month or a control group (n = 40) to receive a Chinese herbal medicine mask plus red light once per week for the same duration.

Duodenum clamping trauma induces significant postoperative intraperitoneal adhesions on a rat model.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the histological and morphological changes in the first two postoperative weeks on a rat intraperitoneal adhesion model induced by duodenum clamping trauma.

Method: The rat model of postoperative intraperitoneal adhesions was established in 48 male Wistar rats by laparotomy, followed by the duodenum clamping trauma. Rats were sacrificed respectively on 1(st), 3(rd), 5(th), 7(th) and 14(th) day after the operation.
