Dysfunction of intestinal epithelial Cl currents and channels have previously been reported in inflammatory intestinal diseases. However, the expression and function of the newly identified Ca-activated Cl channel transmembrane member 16A (TMEM16A) in the intestinal epithelium is unclear.
