Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common complication in older patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) that adversely impacts clinical outcomes. We aimed to evaluate the risk factors for POD and to construct a predictive nomogram. Data for a total of 1481 older patients (training set: n=1109; validation set: n=372) who received liver resection for HCC were retrospectively retrieved from two prospective databases.

The aim of this study was to summarize the INSTIs TDRM, including the frequency of protease inhibitors (PIs) and reverse transcriptase (RT) inhibitors (RTIs) mutations in treatment-naïve patients in Southeast China.

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory antagonist of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-1, a critical factor in many inflammatory diseases. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of IL-1ra in hepatitis B-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HB-ACLF). Serum cytokine concentrations were measured using a Q-Plex array in 31 patients with HB-ACLF, 28 patients with acute hepatitis B (AHB), 31 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and 15 healthy control patients (HCs).

[Treatment options in HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B patients with a poor response to 24-week interferon monotherapy].

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of 4 treatment options for HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients following a suboptimal response to 24-week interferon monotherapy.

Methods: The data of 193 HBeAg-positive CHB patients with suboptimal response to 24-week interferon monotherapy were collected from Nanfang Hospital between September, 2010 and January, 2013. According to the subsequent treatments, the patients were divided into group A with additional entecavir or adefovir, group B with further interferon monotherapy, group C with conversion to NAs therapy, and group D with direct therapy withdrawal, and the biochemical and virological results at weeks 24, 48 and 72 were analyzed in the 4 groups.

Recent studies have indicated that the therapeutic vaccine based on enhancement of HBV-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) activity may lead to viral clearance in chronically infected individuals. It is demonstrated that protein transduction domains (PTD) from HIV-1-Tat protein is able to enter cells when combined with exogenous antigens and induce specific CTL responses. We have previously testified that the expressed and purified fusion protein containing Tat-PTD47-57 and HBcAg could enter cytoplasm of dendritic cells, and enhance T cells response to generate HBcAg-specific CTLs efficiently in vitro.
