Objective: To study the effect of internal fixation with absorbable intramedullary nail on the treatment of phalange fractures in replantation of severed finger.

Methods: From September 2001 to October 2003, 28 cases with industrial severed finger (21 males and 7 females, with the age of 18-35 years) were replanted within 1-6 hours. The severed locations were index fingers in 11 cases, middle fingers in 8 cases, ring fingers in 6 cases, little fingers in 3 cases.

Objective: To study the efficacy of intravenous urokinase administration in preventing and treating vascular crisis in limb or finger replantation (LFR).

Methods: From September, 1999 to October, 2003, 158 patients underwent RSLF in whom 600,000 U of urokinase diluted in 30 ml saline was injected intravenously after blood vessel suture. An intermittent dose (200,000 U) per 12 h given postoperatively for maintenance.

Objective: To study the effect of two different absorbable intramedullary nails in treatment of metacarpal and phalanx fractures.

Methods: From January 2002 to December 2002, open reduction and internal fixation were done with two different absorbable intramedullary nails in 60 cases of metacarpal and phalanx fractures (52 cases of open fractures and 8 cases of closed fractures). The fracture locations were metacarpal in 24 cases, proximal phalanx in 22 cases and media phalanx in 14 cases.
