Background: The monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) is a hematological test parameter that reflects the status of both monocytes and lymphocytes as inflammatory cells. This study aims to investigate the relationship between MLR and carotid intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis.

Methods: We performed the Angio Planewave Ultrasensitive (AngioPLUS) screening for patients with carotid plaques.

Background: Observational studies have associated nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with adverse pregnancy events, but findings show heterogeneity, leaving the causal direction and mediating pathways unclear. We aimed to investigate the causal relation between NAFLD and various pregnancy events, and to elucidate the underlying mediating pathways while determining the proportion of this correlation that is mediated through these pathways.

Methods: A genome-wide association study involving over 6 million participants employing Mendelian randomization (MR) and mediation analysis was performed.

Background: Epilepsy, a central neurological disorder, has a complex genetic architecture. There is some evidence suggesting that genetic factors play a role in both the occurrence of epilepsy and its treatment. However, the genetic determinants of epilepsy are largely unknown.

Background: Previous studies have shown that the rs717620 polymorphism in , the gene encoding multidrug resistance protein 2, influences the therapeutic response to anti-seizure medications (ASMs). However, this result is not consistent, and the mechanism by which rs717620 influences ASM responses is unclear.

Aims: The present study evaluated the association between rs717620 genotype and ASM efficacy, and examined the potential mechanisms.

Human immunodeficiency virus encephalitis (HIVE) is a severe neurological complication after HIV infection. Evidence shows that genetic factors play an important role in HIVE. The aim of the present study was to identify new potential therapeutic targets for HIVE.

Introduction: Although there is accumulating evidence that genetic factors play a vital role in the pathogenesis of epilepsy, few epilepsy-associated genes have been identified. Additionally, the role of KCNJ15 in epilepsy has not been evaluated so far.

Methods: Here, we performed differentially expressed gene analysis, expression quantitative trait loci analysis, gene co-expression analysis, and protein-protein interaction analysis to evaluate the role of KCNJ15 in epilepsy.

Previous studies have indicated that fibrinogen and low serum albumin levels are associated with poor outcomes of acute ischemic stroke. The role of the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) as a novel inflammatory and thrombotic biomarker in acute ischemic stroke is unclear. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the FAR and 3-month outcomes of acute pontine infarction.
