In this paper, chiral aryl iodides were used for the first time to catalyze the formation of C-O and C-N bonds of inactive olefins to obtain optically active aminolactone derivatives. The reaction is compatible with various substituted alkenyl carboxylic acid substrates. This method usually shows high activity and enantioselectivity, with a yield of up to 83% and an ee of up to 99%.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate the digestibility of crude protein and amino acids in 10 different rapeseed cake samples fed to pigs, while also creating predictive models based on their chemical composition.
  • - Twenty-two pigs were used in a structured feeding trial that included diets with rapeseed cake and a marker for digestibility measurement, revealing significant variability in fat, fiber, and glucosinolates among samples.
  • - Findings showed varying digestibility rates for crude protein and specific amino acids, identifying factors like neutral detergent fiber and total glucosinolates as important predictors for digestibility outcomes.

The newly identified estrogen receptor, G protein-coupled receptor 30 (GPR30), is prevalent in the brain and has been shown to provide significant neuroprotection. Recent studies have linked ferroptosis, a newly characterized form of programmed cell death, closely with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI), highlighting it as a major contributing factor. Consequently, our research aimed to explore the potential of GPR30 targeting in controlling neuronal ferroptosis and lessening CIRI impacts.

Objective: To explore the functional role of the drug-dependent mesenchymal-epithelial transition (Met)-axiation "π" structural module of neurogenesis after processing by three components of Qingkailing injection in neurogenesis and angiogenesis in cerebral ischemia.

Methods: We used a Glutathione S-transferase (GST)-pull down assay, isothermal titration calorimetry assay, and other related methods to identify the relationships among Met, inositol polyphosphate phosphatase like 1 (Inppl1), and death associated protein kinase 3 (Dapk3) in this allosteric module. The biological effects of the modules of neurons generation composed of Met, Inppl1, and Dapk3 were measured through Western blot, apoptosis analysis, and double immunofluorescence labeling.

Comprehensive quantitative assessment of China's urban industrial water use efficiency is effectively promote the green industrial development important steps in order to realize the overall development of high quality. Between 2009 and 2021, 290 in China based on ground level above the panel data of the city, this paper conducts research based on two principles of efficiency improvement and four models of efficiency analysis. The results show that: First, from the perspective of spatial differences, the integrated water use efficiency of urban industry in China presents a slow and uneven upward trend of "low in the east and high in the west, high in the middle and low in the north and south".

A photoinduced reductive C-O borylation of alkyl heteroaryl ethers with very negative reduction potential in the presence of 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) and bis(catecholato)diborane(Bcat) was developed. Despite the high reducing power, various substrates with liable functional groups were well-tolerated as well as ethers derived from natural products and medicinal-relevant compounds. Mechanistic investigation implied that an intra-single electron transfer process in an electron donor-acceptor complex formed from ethers with the adduct of Bcat and DMAP should be involved.

Background: Although the angiosome concept has been proposed for a long time, very few studies have been done on its morphology. Our study investigated the effects of angiosome morphology on choke vessels and flap necrosis in a rat multiterritory perforator flap.

Methods: Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 24/group).

As a result of examining the structure of ZrCuAl alloy around the glass transition temperature (T) using the classical molecular dynamics simulations, it was proven that the atomic bonds in the interconnecting zones (i-zones) became loose with the small amount of energy absorption, and it became free volumes easily when the temperature approached T. Instead of i-zones, when clusters were largely separated by free volume networks, the solid amorphous structure was converted into supercooled liquid state, resulting in a sharp strength reduce and the great plasticity change from a limited plastic deformation to superplasticity.

Objectives: To explore the cytotoxicity of four wild mushrooms involved in a case of Yunnan sudden unexplained death (YNSUD), to provide the experimental basis for prevention and treatment of YNSUD.

Methods: Four kinds of wild mushrooms that were eaten by family members in this YNSUD incident were collected and identified by expert identification and gene sequencing. Raw extracts from four wild mushrooms were extracted by ultrasonic extraction to intervene HEK293 cells, and the mushrooms with obvious cytotoxicity were screened by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8).

Three series of podophyllotoxin derivatives with various nitrogen-containing heterocycles were designed and synthesized. The antitumor activity of these podophyllotoxin derivatives was evaluated against a panel of human tumor cell lines. The results showed that podophyllotoxin-imidazolium salts and podophyllotoxin-1,2,4-triazolium salts exhibited excellent cytotoxic activity.

A unique transition-metal-free radical thiolation of 2-azaallyl anions has been developed. Easily accessible thiosulfonates and 2-azaallyls undergo the tandem process of single-electron transfer and radical-radical coupling to construct C(sp)-S bonds. This robust protocol enables a mild and chemoselective coupling between 2-azaallyl anions and thiosulfonates to access α-amino sulfides in 50-92% yields (25 examples).

Air pollution is one of the leading causes for global deaths and understanding pollutant emission sources is key to successful mitigation policies. Air quality data in the urban, suburban, industrial, and rural areas (UA, SA, IA, and RA) of Jining, Shandong Province in China, were collected to compare the characteristics and associated health risks. The average concentrations of PM, PM, SO, NO, and CO show differences of -3.

Imidazoles are among the most important pharmacophores in medicinal chemistry. Herein we report a tandem protocol for the synthesis of highly substituted imidazoles through Pummerer-like rearrangement induced cascade reactions including two carbon-nitrogen bond formations, and concomitant aromatization under mild reaction conditions. This procedure gives imidazole derivatives bearing numerous functional groups and could be used for modifying natural products as well as pharmaceuticals.

In this paper, we disclosed a novel enantioselective total synthesis of spirotryprostatin A () in 15 steps with a 7.4% total yield from commercially available 2-iodo-5-methoxyaniline and γ-butyrolactone. The key step features of this synthesis include the copper-catalyzed cascade reaction of -iodoaniline derivatives with alkynone to introduce the quaternary carbon stereocenter and an aza-Michael tandem reaction to construct the spiro[pyrrolidine-3,3'-oxindole] moiety.
