To develop an atrophic Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) animal model via liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, the eyelid edges of C57 mice exposure to liquid nitrogen for 30 s. Morphology of MG and ocular surface were assessed using stereomicroscopy and a slit lamp microscope at multiple time points post-injury. Acinar loss and atrophy were observed from day 7, with increased inflammation and apoptosis, and decreased proliferation in acinar cells.

To explore the relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in complement factor I (), interleukin-8 (), transferrin (), and transferrin receptor 2 () and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in a northeastern Chinese population. A total of 400 AMD patients (200 wet AMD and 200 dry AMD) and 200 controls were enrolled in this study, and genetic polymorphisms in the above genes were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The χ test was used to compare differences in allele frequencies in each group, and the associations of genotype frequencies with AMD were determined by multivariate logistic regression analysis.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common form of internal RNA modification in eukaryotes. The dynamic regulation of m6A modification mainly rely on three proteases, installed by m6A methyltransferase, removed by m6A demethylase and recognized by m6A reader protein, which regulates the metabolism of RNA, thereby regulating the processes of cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis. Recently, a number of studies have found that m6A aberrant methylation in some eye diseases.
