Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that causes tremors, gait rigidity, and hypokinesia. We determined the effects of long noncoding RNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (lncRNA SNHG12) on the development of PD. StarBase analysis and dual-luciferase reporter assay verified the interaction between lncRNA SNHG12 and microRNA-138-5p (miR-138-5p).

Intranasal nerve growth factor attenuating the seizure onset via p75R/Caspase pathway in the experimental epilepsy.

Background: Nerve growth factor (NGF) shows neuroprotection while it is hard to cross the blood-brain barrier due to its large molecular weight. Our study used intranasal delivery of NGF to treat the experimental epilepsy.

Methods: The seizure was induced by injection of pentylenetetrazol (40mg/kg) into the rat.

Probucol suppresses human glioma cell proliferation in vitro via ROS production and LKB1-AMPK activation.

Aim: Probucol, an anti-hyperlipidemic drug, has been reported to exert antitumor activities at various stages of tumor initiation, promotion and progression. In this study we examined whether the drug affected glioma cell growth in vitro and the underlying mechanisms.

Methods: Human glioma U87 and glioblastoma SF295 cell lines were used.
