Swine acute diarrhoea syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) is an enveloped, single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus that causes acute diarrhoea and death in piglets, resulting in significant economic losses to the pig farming industry. Studying the interaction patterns between SADS-CoV and host proteins can provide guidance for the development of antiviral drugs. In previous work, we identified 289 host proteins interacting with the SADS-CoV M protein through glutathione S-transferase pull down combined with LC-MS/MS.

Dosing iron salts is a widely adopted strategy for sewer odor and corrosion management, and it can affect bioenergy recovery during anaerobic digestion (AD) of sludge in downstream wastewater treatment plants. However, the different impacts of in-sewer iron salt dosing on AD, depending on the types of iron and digestion conditions, remain unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of in-sewer ferrous (Fe(II)) and ferrate (Fe(VI)) dosing on bioenergy recovery in both conventional AD and AD with thermal hydrolysis pretreatment (THP).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how different starch structures (specifically amylopectin to amylose ratios) in low-protein diets affect production performance and health in laying hens over 12 weeks.
  • Findings showed that hens on diets with higher amylopectin (AP/AM ratio of 4.0) had better egg weight and feed efficiency, along with improvements in nutrient digestibility and energy use.
  • The diet also influenced gut health, as moderate amylose diets boosted beneficial bacteria in the cecum, highlighting the potential for optimizing starch structures in animal diets for better nutrient absorption and overall well-being.

Exosomal PD-L1 (exoPD-L1) has recently received significant attention as a biomarker predicting immunotherapeutic responses involving the PD1/PD-L1 pathway. However, current technologies for exosomal analysis rely primarily on bulk measurements that do not consider the heterogeneity found within exosomal subpopulations. Here, we present a nanoscale cytometry platform NanoEPIC, enabling phenotypic sorting and exoPD-L1 profiling from blood plasma.

Success in plant reproduction is highly dependent on the correct timing of the floral transition, which is tightly regulated by the flowering pathways. In the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, the central flowering repressor FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) is precisely regulated by multiple flowering time regulators in the vernalization pathway and autonomous pathway, including FPA. Here we report that Arabidopsis MEDIATOR SUBUNIT 8 (MED8) promotes floral transition in Arabidopsis by recruiting FPA to the FLC locus to repress FLC expression.

Article Synopsis
  • Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (nMABs) are effective in treating COVID-19, and researchers developed a new version called 55,315-VLVH to increase its potency.
  • This new tetravalent IgG1-(scFv) construct combines two single chain variable fragments (scFv) with the original nMAB, improving its binding activity against spike protein variants and enhancing neutralization against variants of concern (VOCs).
  • While the new version shows better antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP) without increasing inflammatory responses, it may lead to higher systemic inflammation through antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), requiring further research
