Aim: To investigate the correlation of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) gene Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphisms and acute pancreatitis (AP) risk and severity.

Methods: To get a more precise estimation of the relationship, a comprehensive search was performed to examine all the eligible studies of TLR4 Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphisms and AP risk. The odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess the strength of the association.

Purpose: To elucidate the clinicopathological significance and the role of Jun Activation Domain-Binding Protein 1 (JAB1), Ser10-phosphorylated p27 (p27S10), and total p27 in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) prognosis.

Methods: We evaluated the expression of JAB1 and p27S10 in tissues by immunohistochemical and immunoblot analyses. p27 Ser10 phosphorylation and Ser10 phosphorylation-dependent p27-JAB1 interaction were demonstrated in proliferating Huh7 cells following transfection of pEGFP-p27WT/p27S10A/p27S10D plasmids and pcDNA3.

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the synthesis and biocompatibility of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles and investigate their therapeutic effects when combined with magnetic fluid hyperthermia on cultured MCF-7 cancer cells.

Methods: Magnetic Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles were prepared using a coprecipitation method. The appearance, structure, phase composition, functional groups, surface charge, magnetic susceptibility, and release in vitro were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and a vibrating sample magnetometer.

Background: The purpose of this study was to develop intraperitoneal hyperthermic therapy based on magnetic fluid hyperthermia, nanoparticle-wrapped cisplatin chemotherapy, and magnetic particles of albumin. In addition, to combine the multiple-killing effects of hyperthermal targeting therapy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, the albumin-nanoparticle surfaces were linked with radionuclide (188)Re-labeled folic acid ligand ((188)Re-folate-CDDP/HSA).

Methods: Human serum albumin was labeled with (188)Re using the pre-tin method.

Objective: To establish a rapid and simple method to detect Y chromosome microdeletions directly using whole blood as starting material for multiplex-PCR.

Methods: Using a self-prepared pHpH-Bufferq, multiplex-PCR amplification was directly carried out from the anticoagulant whole blood sample without DNA extraction step. Twelve sequence tagged sites (STS), namely SY84, SY86, SY127, SY134, SY124, SY132, SY152, SY157, SY239, SY242, SY254 and SY255, in AZFa, AZFb, and AZFc gene regions were detected in 5 different tubes.
