Objective: Health-related quality of life allows the health care professionals to envisage new axes of improvement in antenatal care and is a core aspect of contemporary maternity care provision. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of anxiety symptoms and explore the relationship between anxiety symptoms and health-related quality of life among Chinese pregnant women.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a local teaching hospital in Guangzhou, China between April and June, 2018.
Radiation can cause the differential expression of biological miRNA molecules. This research was based on the development of the laboratory red crucian carp (LRCC) to explore the feasibility of its application in the detection of low-dose ionizing radiation-induced biological damage in aquatic environments and the development of related molecular markers. Adult LRCC were irradiated with caesium-137 at 0.

In this study, we established an HPH preclinical model in rats by simulating clinicopathological indicators of the disease. Our results showed that high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) aggravated the clinical symptoms of HPH.

With the growing concerns on global climate change and food security, low carbon agriculture in food production attracts more attention. Low carbon agriculture needs to balance higher-level crop yields and lower greenhouse gas emission in production process. Improving nitrogen mana-gement may help mitigate greenhouse gas emission and achieve stable or higher crop yields in crop production systems.

It is important to understand the effects of temporal changes in microbial communities in the acidic soils of tea orchards with different fertilizers. A field experiment involving organic fertilizer (OF), chemical fertilizer (CF), and unfertilized control (CK) treatments was arranged to analyze the temporal changes in the bacterial and archaeal communities at bimonthly intervals based on the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene using terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) profiling. The abundances of total bacteria, total archaea, and selected functional genes (bacterial and archaeal amoA, bacterial narG, nirK, nirS, and nosZ) were determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).

Objective: To study the influence of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) transplantation on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) in rats.
Methods: SD rats MSCs were separated, cultivated, identified and labeled by the green fluorescence protein (GFP) gene virus and transplanted in vitro. Healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: Normal control group (NC group) and HPH group (eight rats respectively), HPH+ MSCs transplantation group and HPH+ VEGF+ MSCs transplantation group (twenty-four respectively).
Background: Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) is a major causative agent of severe infections, including sepsis, pneumonia, meningitis, and otitis media, and has become a major public health concern. We report the pneumococcal serotype and sequence type (ST) distribution, and antimicrobial resistance of 39 S.

Taking the pig manure-rice straw mixtures with different C/N ratios (20, 25, 30, and 35) as the feed of earthworm (Eisenia fetida), a 90-day incubation test was conducted to study the growth and reproduction of E. fetida, with the average body mass, daily body mass increase, daily cocoon production, and accumulated cocoon production as the indicators. In the meantime, a 35-day composting experiment was arranged to assess the maturity of the same mixtures with C/N 25, 30, and 35, using pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and C/N as the indicators.

Vertical and 'T' types of lysimeter were used to measure the concentrations of ammonia N, nitrate N, and total nitrogen (TN) in the leakage of paddy field in rice growth season under different N application levels. For ammonia N, its concentration measured with these two types of lysimeter all ranged in 0-8 mg x L(-1) in 2007 and 0-4 mg x L(-1) in 2006; for nitrate N, its concentration measured with vertical lysimeter was 0-4 mg x L(-1) in 2007 and basically the same in 2006, while that measured with 'T' type lysimeter was 0-20 mg x L(-1) in 2007 but lower in 2006. The TN concentration in the leakage was 0-60 mg x L(-1) in 2007, much higher than that (0-16 mg x L(-1)) in 2006.

By using self-designed lysimeters, the dynamic changes of ammonia- and nitrate N leakage from the plowpan of paddy field under different N supply were studied, aimed to understand the N leakage loss from paddy field during rice growth period. A dynamic model was built to simulate the N translocation and transformation in rice plant, soil, and water by Vensim software. The data from the field experiment with N fertilization rates of 0, 75, 150, 225, 300, and 375 kg x hm(-2) in Yuhang district, Hangzhou City in 2003 were used for calibrating the model, and the data from the field experiment in 2007 were utilized for validating the model.

Purpose: Mutations associated with resistance to kinase inhibition are an important mechanism of intrinsic or acquired loss of clinical efficacy for kinase-targeted therapeutics. We report the prospective discovery of ErbB2 mutations that confer resistance to the small-molecule inhibitor lapatinib.
Experimental Design: We did in vitro screening using a randomly mutagenized ErbB2 expression library in Ba/F3 cells, which were dependent on ErbB2 activity for survival and growth.
Objective: To investigate the alteration of plasma and lung tissue homogenate urotensin II (U-II), nitric oxide (NO) and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) levels in rats with hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension (HPH) and to study the role of these factors and oxygen treatment in the development of HPH.
Methods: Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: a control group, a group with hypoxia for 14 days and a group with oxygen treatment after hypoxia for 14 days, 10 rats per group. Mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP), mean systematic arterial pressure (mSAP) and right ventriculo hypertrophy index (RVHI) were measured.
