Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) is one of seven mammalian homologs of silent information regulator 2 (Sir2) and an NAD -dependent deacetylase; however, its critical role in lymphangiogenesis remains to be explored. We investigate SIRT2 mediated regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGFD) expression and lymphangiogenesis by deacetylating endothelial PAS domain protein 1 (EPAS1) in head and neck cancer (HNC) in vitro and in vivo. In this study, we report that SIRT2, rather than other members of the Sir2 family, reduces the expression of VEGFD and lymphangiogenesis in hypoxia-induced HNC cells and transplanted HNC mice models by reducing EPAS1 acetylation at Lys674 and decreasing the transcriptional activity of EPAS1 target genes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTaiji, a space-based gravitational-wave observatory, consists of three satellites forming an equilateral triangle with arm length of 3×10 km, orbiting around the Sun. Taiji is able to observe the gravitational-wave standard siren events of massive black hole binary (MBHB) merger, which is helpful in probing the expansion of the universe. In this paper, we preliminarily forecast the capability of Taiji for improving cosmological parameter estimation with the gravitational-wave standard siren data.

The aim of this study was to determine whether the combination of Therapeutic ultrasound (TUS) and Curcumin (CUR) resulted in an enhancement of their pain relieving activities in a rat model of postoperative pain. We explored the effect of these treatment and their interaction with signal transduction pathways involved in inflammatory.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel type of stimuli-responsive fluorescent polymers has been developed via the self-assembly of riboflavin-5'-phosphate (RiP) as ligand and europium (III) (Eu) as central metal ion coordinated with the ligand. The as-prepared RiP/Eu coordination polymers (RiP/Eu CPs) are smart and multifunctional for respectively responding to chemical and physical stimuli, in which RiP acts as the stimuli-responsive fluorescent signal indicator. For sensing chemical stimuli, 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (DPA, an anthrax biomarker) having higher bonding force towards Eu can grab it from smart RiP/Eu CPs through competition reaction, resulting in the release of RiP for highly sensitive and selective DPA monitoring in a mix-and-read fluorescent enhancement format, and the detection limit is as low as 41.

However, the exact underlying molecular mechanisms remain obscure. Here, we aim to test whether CUR affects ATM/Chk2/p53 signaling pathway, leading to the induction of cell cycle arrest, inhibition of angiogenesis of HNSCC and .
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOssifying fibroma is a rare benign tumor of the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinus, and is easily misdiagnosed. In the present study, we report the clinical data in the case of a 46-year-old female patient, treated due to 5-day forehead swelling accompanied by dizziness. CT examination revealed dilation of the right frontal sinus, bone wall integration, dense masses in the cavity, multiple punctate calcification foci internally and no nasal obstruction, nasal mucus or epistaxis.

Methods: Fifty-two pregnant women with preeclampsia and 34 with uncomplicated pregnancy in the third trimester were recruited. The exclusions included uterine contractions, multiple pregnancies, rupture of membranes, symptomatic infectious diseases, medical diseases and antibiotics or hormones users.

Objective: To observe the injury and repair of the subepithelial cordectomy by CO2 laser in different power.
Methods: Thirty dogs were randomly divided into 5 groups according to different laser power such as A(1 W), B(3 W), C(5 W), D(8 W), E(cold instruments), 6 dogs in each group. Subepithelial cordectomy was performed on the dogs and the tissue damage and wound recovery were observed in different time after operation.
Objective: To analyze the prevalence and clinical characteristics of hospitalized patients with cervical cancer over the last two decades in Beijing so as to provide scientific rationales for the management of cervical cancer.
Methods: Stratified cluster sampling was employed to analyze a total of 1399 invasive cervical cancer cases from different class hospitals in Beijing during the period of 1990 - 2009.
Results: (1) The number of cervical cancer cases had been rising over the last 2 decades.
Based on the integrated assessment methods of ecological quality status (EcoQS) in coastal waters abroad as well as the domestic related research status, 11 indices were selected from the biotic and physicochemical elements of water and sediment to built an integrated EcoQS assessment index system, and, with the comprehensive consideration of domestic and international evaluation standards, 5 levels of EcoQS classified as "high, good, moderate, poor, and bad" were determined. Then, an integrated assessment method of EcoQS in coastal waters was established by using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy mathematics method, and tested by the analysis of the correlations between the EcoQS grade and the major anthropogenic disturbances and pollutant concentrations of Tong' an Bay. The EcoQS of Tong' an Bay was assessed as moderate, i.

Genomic DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded tissue sections. HPV DNA genotyping was achieved by a flow-through hybridization and gene-chip method.

Copper seemed to be more concentrated in the gill than in the liver after Cu(2+) and copper-ethylenediaminetetraacetate (Cu-EDTA) exposure. The addition of EDTA markedly affected copper adsorption in the gill but had no significant effects in the liver.

After the fish (Carassius auratus) were exposed to the experimental concentrations for forty days, the SDS-PAGE and Western Blotting techniques were used to detect the expression level of HSP70 in the fish brain. The results showed that Cu2+ and Cu-EDTA complex can induce the expression of HSP70 significantly.
