Oxaliplatin induces pyroptosis in hepatoma cells and enhances antitumor immunity against hepatocellular carcinoma.

Background: Pyroptosis is closely associated with chemotherapeutic drugs and immune response. Here, we investigated whether oxaliplatin, a key drug in FOLFOX-hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy (FOLFOX-HAIC), induces pyroptosis in hepatoma cells and enhances antitumor immunity after tumor cell death.

Methods: Hepatoma cells were treated with oxaliplatin.

Anti-inflammatory activity of collagen peptide in vitro and its effect on improving ulcerative colitis.

To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of collagen peptides, collagen peptides from cod skin were prepared to assess their in vitro anti-inflammatory effects and in vivo efficacy against ulcerative colitis. The results show that collagen peptides demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reducing oxidative stress in vitro. In vivo, collagen peptides significantly reduced colonic tissue damage, modulated serum cytokine balance, increased the expression of tight junction proteins ZO-1, Occludin, and Claudin-1 in colon tissue, enhanced the abundance of beneficial bacteria while reducing harmful bacteria, and restored microbial balance.

Osteoporosis (OP) is a significant global public health concern that requires the development of safe and effective drugs for prevention and treatment. Sugemule-7 (SGML-7) decoction, a traditional Mongolian herbal prescription, has long been used for treating OP, but its components and mechanisms of action remain unclear. The study identified the main compounds of SGML-7 using UHPLC-Q Exactive MS and explored the multi-target mechanisms of SGML-7 in OP through network pharmacology and molecular docking.

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of allylestrenol (AT) and progesterone in improving pregnancy outcomes in RSA. This study investigated the long- term effects of exposure to a patient-derived GluN1-specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) during a critical developmental period (from postnatal day 3 to day 12) in mice. We observed long-lasting sensory-motor deficits characteristic of NMDAR-AE, along with permanent changes in callosal axons within the primary somatosensory cortex (S1) in adulthood, including increased terminal branch complexity.

Association between the ratio of serum uric acid to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and liver fat content: evidence from a Chinese health examination dataset.

Despite numerous studies investigating the correlation between the serum uric acid and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (UHR) and fatty liver disease, the evidence for the dose-response relationship between UHR and liver fat content (LFC) remains uncertain. This study employs quantitative computed tomography (CT) to quantify LFC and aims to investigate the correlation and dose-response relationship between UHR levels and LFC in Chinese adults. Based on the health check-up data from 2021 at Henan Provincial People's Hospital, China, the objective of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the association between UHR levels and LFC among individuals of different genders.

Halcinonide activates smoothened to ameliorate ischemic stroke injury.

Objectives: The Shh pathway may shed new light on developing new cell death inhibitors for the therapy of ischemic stroke. We aimed to examine whether the Shh co-reporter SMO or its agonist halcinonide can upregulate Bcl-2 to suppress neuronal cell death, ultimately improving behavioral deficits and reducing cerebral infarction in an ischemic stroke model.

Methods: Halcinonide or genetic manipulation of SMO was conducted in PC12 cells to examine their impacts on oxidative or OGD/R stress, and the chemical, along with AAV-SMO or AAV-EGFP were tested in MCAO rats to investigate their potential protective effects against neuronal damages due to cerebral I/R injury.

Background: Hepatogastric fistula (HGF) is an uncommon occurrence that can be associated with various medical conditions. The primary causes typically involve peptic ulcer disease, infections (such as pyogenic, amoebic or tuberculosis), or iatrogenic factors (like post transarterial chemoembolization or radiotherapy). Background: Zidovudine is an antiviral drug used to treat acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Anaemia is a common adverse effect of zidovudine that usually occurs in the first 2 to 4 weeks of initial treatment. Here, we describe a patient with HIV infection who developed severe aplastic anaemia 11 years after taking zidovudine.

Compared to the sixth edition of the standards, the main updated content of the seventh edition includes ten aspects: (1) trauma centers need to meet new personnel configuration and qualification requirements, (2) trauma centers need to develop more structured and effective trauma treatment effectiveness improvement and patient safety plans, (3) trauma centers need to develop data quality plans, (4) trauma centers need to develop new diagnosis and treatment plans for specific patients, (5) trauma centers need to have new professional knowledge, (6) trauma centers need to meet new response time and resource availability standards, (7) trauma centers need to meet new academic and scientific requirements, (8) tertiary trauma centers need corresponding qualification certificates if providing neurological trauma treatment, (9) new requirements for pediatric trauma centers, (10) the fourth level trauma center standards.
