Background: Since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19, the global health landscape has confronted an unprecedented and formidable challenge. The SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) is a key antigen in vaccine design. However, its low immunogenicity has been a hurdle, resulting in the production of minimal anti-RBD antibodies even when combined with alum adjuvant.

Patients And Methods: mNGS and traditional detection results were retrospectively collected from 99 patients with pulmonary infection within one week following liver transplantation. These patients were admitted to the Department of Critical Liver Diseases at Beijing Friendship Hospital from February 2022 to February 2024, along with their general clinical data.
Objectives: Long-term follow-up is essential for type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) patients due to high relapse rates. The cumulative radiation dose from repeated CT scans during follow-up should not be ignored. We aim to investigate the cumulative radiation dose in AIP patients undergoing CT surveillance and the diagnostic performance of CT in detecting disease relapse.

Herein, Zn was introduced into a europium metal-organic framework Eu-bpdc (Hbpdc = 2,2'-bipyridyl-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid) to prepare a composite of Zn@Eu-bpdc, which was developed as a fluorescence sensor for TC and NFT. The fluorescence mechanism concerns with bpdc ligand-to-Eu(III) charge transfer, and the detection mechanism is the inner filter effect.

While radical surgery has been a pivotal method for halting disease progression, it alone is insufficient for enhancing the quality of life for patients.
Aim: To investigate the correlation between ultrasound characteristic parameters of breast cancer lesions and clinical efficacy in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).
Ultrasound has been widely used in industry due to its high energy and efficiency. This study optimized the ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) process of frosted figs pectin (FFP) using response surface methodology (RSM), and further investigated the effect of ultrasonic power on the structural characteristics and antioxidant activities of FFPs. The UAE method of FFP through RSM was optimized, and the optimal extraction process conditions, particle size of 100 mesh, pH value of 1.

Background: Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is a pulmonary vascular complication of chronic liver disease, which develops insidiously as a result of chronic liver disease. The prognosis for untreated patients with HPS is extremely poor, and liver transplantation (LT) serves as the only effective means for treating this condition. Here, we performed a retrospective analysis to evaluate the efficacy of LT on the survival and long-term prognosis of patients with HPS.

Vaccination has long been recognized as the most effective means of preventing the spread of infectious diseases. DNA vaccines have attracted attention due to their safety profile, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production.

Background: Gastric subepithelial tumors (SETs) may harbor potential malignancy. Although it is well recognized that large SETs should be resected, the precise treatment strategy remains controversial. Compared to surgical resection, endoscopic resection (ER) has many advantages; however, ER of SETs in the cardia is challenging.

However, the underlying mechanisms have not been fully clarified and effective interventions are rarely developed. Inulin, a prebiotic, has been used as a supplement in human daily life as well as in gastrointestinal diseases and metabolic disorders.

However, its time cost is high. This study aimed to evaluate (1) whether a simplified protocol (SP) of MRI for AIP surveillance provides information equivalent to the comprehensive protocol (CP) and (2) the time cost reductions associated with using an SP.

This study aimed to investigate the imaging features in relation to rare variants and the interaction between cortical atrophy and white matter lesions from a longitudinal view, with respect to spatial and dynamic patterns.
Methods: As part of a community-based cohort, we included participants with complete whole-exome sequencing and brain MRI in the baseline analysis.
Eradication of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is challenging due to multi-drug resistance of strains and biofilm formation, the latter of which is an important barrier to the penetration of antibiotics and host defences. As such, there is an urgent need to discover and develop novel agents to fight MRSA-associated infection. In this study, HL-J6, a novel indolylbenzoquinone compound, was shown to inhibit S.

As a new type of fluorescent nanomaterial, chiral carbon quantum dots (CCQDs) have the advantages of wide source, good water solubility and high chemical stability, and have been widely used in drug detection, bioimaging and chemical sensing. In this work, a chiral dual-emission hybrid material fluorescein/CCQDs@ZIF-8 (1) was synthesized by in-situ encapsulation strategy. Luminescence emission position of CCQDs and fluorescein are almost unchanged after the encapsulation into ZIF-8.

The light propagating in an underwater wireless optical communications (UWOC) channel suffers absorption and scattering effects jointly caused by particles and turbulence. By using Monte Carlo simulation (MCS), most of the research involving UWOC channel modeling has sufficiently considered the attenuation caused by particles while ignoring or erroneously considering the absorption and scattering effects induced by turbulence, which will result in an underestimation of attenuation. Motivated by this, we use a MCS method to construct a more complete and more reasonable channel model, which makes up for the deficiencies of previous studies and provides a general analysis framework for the absorption and scattering effects brought by the two factors of particles and turbulence.

Case Summary: We report the case of a 19-mo-old boy, who presented with intermittent fever and enlarged cervical lymph nodes after liver transplantation.
Background And Objectives: The genetic characteristics and correlations of hippocampal volume (HV) and plasma β-amyloid (Aβ), probable endophenotypes for dementia, remain to be explored in a Chinese community cohort. Using whole-exome sequencing (WES) and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array genotyping, we sought to identify rare and common variants and genes influencing these 2 endophenotypes and calculate their heritability and genetic correlation.
Methods: Association analyses with both WES and SNP array genotyping data were performed for HV and plasma Aβ with mixed-effect linear regression model adjusted for sex, age, and total intracranial volume or ε4 while considering familial relatedness.
As TLR2 agonists, several lipopeptides had been proved to be candidate vaccine adjuvants. In our previous study, lipopeptides mimicking N-terminal structures of the bacterial lipoproteins were also able to promote antigen-specific immune response. However, the structure-activity relationship of lipopeptides as TLR2 agonists is still unclear.
