The flexural vibration characteristics of a rectangular plate in stripe mode, driven at its center by a different longitudinal vibration ultrasonic transducer (LVUT) with different excitation area are investigated. The variation in the nodal lines and corresponding resonant frequency of the rectangular plate under different excitation area are calculated by using finite element method (FEM). The results show that the resonant frequency increases with the excitation area of the LVUT increasing, and the nodal lines bend obviously when the radius r of excitation area is greater than a certain value.

To obtain efficient therapeutics, drug release into the cytosol is required because drug targets are often located in the cytosol or have active sites that require intracellular machinery in the cytosolic compartment. However, typical nanocarriers gain cellular entry by endocytic mechanisms, confining the internalized nanocarriers to the endosomal-lysosomal system, thus resulting in the rapid destruction of active drugs without release into the cytosol. The deterioration of retinal tissue in advanced stages of retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration and the lack of signaling cues for laminar regeneration are significant challenges highlighting the need for a tissue engineering approach to retinal repair. In this study, we fabricated a biodegradable thin-film polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffold with varying surface topographies using microfabrication techniques. Mouse retinal progenitor cells (mRPCs) cultured on PCL scaffolds exhibited enhanced potential to differentiate toward a photoreceptor fate in comparison to mRPCs cultured on control substrates, suggesting that PCL scaffolds are promising as substrates to guide differentiation of mRPCs toward a photoreceptor fate in vitro before transplantation.

A combination therapy of metformin hydrochloride (MH) and repaglinide (RG) achieves a perfect glycemic control; however, the combination formulation of immediate release must be taken several times a day, compromising the therapeutic benefits and causing inconveniences to the patients. Herein, a bilayer matrix tablet that aimed at continuously releasing both MH and RG over time was developed, in which the two drugs were formulated into two separated layers. The tablets were prepared by wet granulation method, and the optimized formulation was obtained by evaluating the factors that affected the drug release.

In order to enhance the in vivo codelivery efficiency of gambogic acid (GA) and all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), our strategy was to entrap GA in the self-assembled nanoparticles based on amphiphilic hyaluronic acid (HA)-ATRA (HRA) conjugate. Clinically, it will be a promising choice to suppress tumor metastasis by targeting inflammatory microenvironment. An amphiphilic carboxymethyl chitosan-quercetin (CQ) conjugate was designed and synthesized for oral delivery of paclitaxel (PTX) to improve its oral bioavailability by increasing its water solubility and bypassing the P-gp drug efflux pumps. This study was aimed at investigating the reversal effect of oroxylin A, a naturally bioactive monoflavonoid separated and purified from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, in human chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that CXCL12 could enhance the resistance of K562 cells to adriamycin (ADM) by increasing the expression of CXCR4, up-regulating the downstream PI3K/Akt pathway, and promoting translocation of NF-κB dimers into nucleus and subsequently decreasing the expression of apoptosis-related proteins in K562 cells. And we found that ADM resistance was partially reversed by CXCR4 siRNA transfection.
