Additives are extensively explored for improving PEDOT:PSS performances mainly through the removal of excess PSS and as a secondary dopant. In this work, amine-containing additives are introduced to PEDOT:PSS solutions as processing additives where the interactions to the PSS are anticipated through electrostatic interactions. Such interactions affected solution property where the increased viscosity is found to significantly increase the out-of-plane conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS thin films.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a prevalent and lethal disease, and tumor regression rarely occurs in advanced HCC patients due to limited effective therapies. Given the enrichment of macrophages in HCC and their role in tumor immunity, transforming them into chimeric antigen receptor macrophages (CAR-Ms) is thought to increase HCC cell-directed phagocytosis and tumoricidal immunity. To test this hypothesis, mRNA encoding CAR is encapsulated in a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) that targets liver macrophages.

Insoluble dietary fiber is a macromolecular polysaccharide aggregate composed of pectin, glycoproteins, lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose. All agricultural by-products contain significant levels of insoluble dietary fiber. With the recognition of the increasing scarcity of non-renewable energy sources, the conversion of single components of dietary fiber into renewable energy sources and their use has become an ongoing concern.

Background: Biological markers contribute to the precise intervention across the continuum of frailty severity. Few studies have explored the advantages of biological markers collected as part of primary care data among community-dwelling older adult population and controversy remains regarding the classic biological markers for frailty.

Methods: We recruited a total of 8791 adults with a mean age of 71.

As a third-generation neonicotinoid insecticide, dinotefuran is extensively used in agriculture, and its residue in the environment has potential effects on nontarget organisms. However, the toxic effects of dinotefuran exposure on nontarget organism remain largely unknown. This study explored the toxic effects of sublethal dose of dinotefuran on Bombyx mori.

Conventional tissue adhesives face challenges for hemostasis and tissue regeneration in large-scaled hemorrhage and capillary hypobaric bleeding due to weak adhesion, and inability to degrade at specific sites. Herein, convenient and injectable poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-based adhesives are developed to address the issues for liver hemostasis. The PEG-bioadhesives are composed of tetra-armed PEG succinimide glutarate (PEG-SG), tetra-armed PEG amine (PEG-NH ), and tri-lysine.

With polymerization duration and Au concentration of the electrolyte regulated, a desirable nitrate-doped polypyrrole ion-selective membrane (PPy(NO)-ISM) and Au solid contact layer of anticipate surface morphology were obtained, and the performance of nitrate all-solid ion-selective electrodes (NS ISEs) was improved. It was found that the roughest PPy(NO)-ISM remarkably increases the actual contact surface area of the PPy(NO)-ISMs with nitrate solution, which leads to better adsorption of NO ions upon the PPy(NO)-ISMs, and produces a larger number of electrons. The most hydrophobic Au solid contact layer avoids the formation of the aqueous layer at the interface between the PPy(NO)-ISM and Au solid contact layer, and ensures unimpeded transporting of the produced electrons.

Petroleum biodegradation is of importance for the mitigation of secondary pollutants from soil chemical remediation. Describing the gene abundance change of the petroleum degradation emerged as an important practice for success. In this study, an indigenous consortium with targeting-enzyme was utilized to develop a degradative system that was later subjected to metagenomic analysis on the soil microbial community.

Background: The progression of global warming and increase in instances of extreme weather have received considerable attention. We conducted a cohort study on women of childbearing age in Yunnan Province, examined the association between ambient temperature and humidity on preterm birth and evaluated the effects of extreme weather during early pregnancy and before parturition on preterm birth.

Methods: We conducted a population-based cohort study on women of childbearing age 18-49 years who participated in National Free Preconception Health Examination Project (NFPHEP) in Yunnan Province from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2018.

The investigation of brain networks and neural circuits involves the crucial aspects of observing and modulating neurophysiological activity. Recently, opto-electrodes have emerged as an efficient tool for electrophysiological recording and optogenetic stimulation, which has greatly facilitated the analysis of neural coding. However, implantation and electrode weight control have posed significant challenges in achieving long-term and multi-regional brain recording and stimulation.

High-affinity K transporters/K uptake permeases/K transporters (HAK/KUP/KT) are important pathways mediating K transport across cell membranes, which function in maintaining K homeostasis during plant growth and stress response. An increasing number of studies have shown that HAK/KUP/KT transporters play crucial roles in root K uptake and root-to-shoot translocation. However, whether HAK/KUP/KT transporters also function in phloem K translocation remain unclear.

Understanding the synergistic effect of Cu-based alloys on the adsorption behavior and selectivity of the CO reduction reaction is a crucial step toward directional catalyst design. To this end, density functional theory calculations are employed to investigate Cu-based alloys with diverse doping elements and contents. The results show that the scaling relation still holds in the alloy system, and the strategies to improve the selectivity are put forward based on the adsorption strength of *C and *OCHO intermediates.

The solid tumors are characterized with oxidative stress and metabolic reprogramming, which has been independently used for targeted tumor monotherapy. However, the potential of targeting metabolism-redox circuit in tumor therapy has long been neglected. Herein, we report a hybrid nanocarrier for concurrent targeting of glycolysis and redox balance in the current work.

Background: Seasonal patterns of preterm birth were identified in previous studies, but the effect of conception season on preterm birth has not been extensively studied. Based on the notion that the etiological roots of preterm birth lie in the beginning of pregnancy, we did a population-based retrospective cohort study in Southwest China to examine the effects of season of conception and month of conception on preterm birth.

Methods: We did a population-based retrospective cohort study in women (aged 18-49) who participated in the NFPHEP from 2010 to 2018, and had a singleton livebirth in southwest China.

The discovery of low-cost and high-performance bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts is vital to the future commercialization of rechargeable zinc-air batteries (ZABs). Herein, a Fe single atom seed-mediated strategy is reported for the fabrication of Fe C species closely surrounded by FeN C active sites with strong electronic interactions built between them and more importantly, creating optimized coordination environment, via subtly adjusting their ratio, for favorable adsorption energies of oxygen intermediates formed during oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Concretely, the voltage difference (ΔE) between the ORR half-wave and OER potential at a current density of 10 mA cm for the compositionally-optimized FeNC/Fe C-op electrocatalyst is only 0.

Objective: To investigate the clinical features of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)-related thrombosis (PICCRT) within 2 weeks after PICC placement in cancer patients and its dynamic influence on the blood flow status of veins inserted with catheter, and to provide support for implementing thrombosis prevention and control measures.

Methods: Between May 2019 and July 2020, patients who had solid tumors and who had PICC were prospectively enrolled at West China Hospital, Sichuan University. Scheduled color Doppler imaging was performed to examine the status of PICCRT formation at 8 points of time, with the first one conducted one day before the insertion of PICC and the other 7 completed within 2 weeks after the insertion of PICC.
