Background: Effective screening and treatment have reduced the number of women dying from breast cancer (BC). However, the long-term sequelae of BC treatment and psychosocial factors seriously affect the life quality of BC patients and survivors. Therefore, the discovery and application of targeted biomarkers to improve the functional outcome and life quality of BC patients is necessary.

Transmembrane protease serine 4 (TMPRSS4) is a cancer-associated protease associated with prognosis in various types of cancer. Mechanistically, TMPRSS4 mainly regulates malignant phenotypes, such as tumor invasion and metastasis, by either the epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) program or promoting the proliferation of cancer cells. To date, TMPRSS4 and immune infiltration in thyroid carcinoma (TC) are largely unknown.

Background: Alpha-fetoprotein-positive gastric cancer (AFPGC) is a subtype of gastric cancer that is rare in clinical practice and extremely malignant. Malignant tumors are often associated with hemorrhage, thrombosis, and even disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The D-dimer test is used as a sensitive index in the diagnosis of DIC and fresh thrombosis in malignant tumors.

Spindle assembly abnormal protein 6 homolog (SASS6) is crucial for centriole duplication; however, the role of SASS6 in the proliferation of cancer cells remains unclear. In the present study, the expression and functional role of SASS6 in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) was assessed. Immunohistochemical staining was performed using an anti‑SASS6 antibody in TNBC and normal tissues.

In view of the highly increased prevalence of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) year by year, it is of great importance to explore new molecular targets for anticancer strategies. Emerging evidence indicates that circular RNAs (circRNAs), characterized by a closed-loop structure and high stability, play important roles in tumorigenesis and development of human cancer by regulating multiple complex biological processes, such as cellular proliferation, metastasis, and metabolism. A comprehensive understanding of the roles of circRNAs will facilitate the development of promising future therapeutic strategies for treating cancers, including PTC.

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is a type I cytokeratin that serves an important role in multiple types of cancer; however, little is known regarding its role in thyroid cancer. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to investigate the role of KRT19 in thyroid cancer. Using The Cancer Genome Atlas database, the expression and clinical significance of KRT19 in thyroid cancer tissues were investigated.

This study aims to understand the clinical features, treatment, and prognosis of patients with male breast cancer (MBC) in Shanxi province of China from 2007 to 2016. Data for 77 patients with MBC were collected for analysis. Immunohistochemistry, pathological results, and other data such as demographic characteristics (age, marital status, smoking history, drinking history, and family history of cancer) as well as clinical data were investigated by retrieving information from the patients' medical records.

This study aims to understand the diagnostic value of serum tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cancer antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), cancer antigen 125 (CA125), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15-3), and tissue polypeptide-specific antigen (TPS) in metastatic breast cancer (MBC). A total of 164 metastatic breast cancer patients in Shanxi Cancer Hospital were recruited between February 2016 and July 2016. 200 breast cancer patients without metastasis in the same period were randomly selected as the control group.

The death of patients with gastric cancer is mainly due to its recurrence and metastasis, and circulating tumor cell (CTC) is the necessary condition of metastasis. As liquid biopsy, CTC detection has its certain clinical significance. The detection is required after enrichment because circulating tumor cells are rare.

Background: To explore the relationship of the serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) with the pathologic characteristics, occurrence, and prognosis of cervical squamous carcinoma.

Methods: The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method was used to determine the serum SCC-Ag levels for the patients, which included 424 pretreatment patients and 500 cases after treatment.

Results: (a) Pretreatment SCC-Ag levels of patients were related to clinical stages, lymphatic metastasis, and myometrial invasion, (b) within a median follow-up of 54 months, 180 recurrences (36%) and 102 disease-associated deaths (20.
