Background: Radioresistance presents a major challenge in the treatment of cervical cancer (CC). Apoptotic tumor cells can create an "onco-regenerative niche," contributing to radioresistance. However, the intercellular signaling mechanisms mediating the transfer of radioresistance from apoptotic to surviving cancer cells remain unclear.

The aim of the present case report was to investigate the clinical manifestations, imaging features and changes of tumor markers of organizing pneumonia (OP) complicated by squamous lung carcinoma with cystic air space (LC-CAS). A patient with OP resection and leftover adjacent LC-CAS complicated by pneumothorax was evaluated. Relevant reports of OP cases complicated by LC-CAS before February 2022 were searched in the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, China Biomedical Literature Service System, Wanfang Data, China Journal Network full-text database and China HowNet databases using 'lung cancer' OR 'lung cancer with cystic air space' AND 'organizing pneumonia' as retrieval terms.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common degenerative joint diseases in the elderly, increasing in prevalence and posing a substantial socioeconomic challenge, while no disease-modifying treatments available. Better understanding of the early molecular events will benefit the early-stage diagnosis and clinical therapy. Here, we observed the nucleus accumulation of ZBTB20, a member of ZBTB-protein family, in the chondrocytes of early-stage OA.

Plasma interleukin (IL)-27 is an important mediator of acute hepatic injury (AHI) associated with sepsis. Mitochondria contribute to the proper regulation of macrophage phagocytosis. In this study, we investigated the effect of IL-27 on mitochondrial function and the antimicrobial response of macrophages in sepsis-associated AHI.

Polygonum multiflorum Thunb (PM) is known for its potential to extend lifespan. Although the polysaccharides, the primary constituents of PM, remain largely unexplored in terms of their anti-aging effects and underlying mechanisms, this study investigates them in detail. The anti-aging effects of two purified polysaccharides from PM were evaluated: neutral polysaccharide (RPMP-N, weight average molecular weight 245.

Research on cashmere goat coat color is crucial for optimizing cashmere goat breeds and increasing their economic value. To identify key genes associated with the formation of cashmere goat coat color and to provide molecular markers for breeding purposes, three healthy, 3-year-old does with similar weights and distinct coat colors-white, black, and light brown-were selected. Skin samples were collected for transcriptome sequencing, and bioinformatics methods were applied to screen for differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the skin of cashmere goats with varying coat colors.

Neutrophils are highly abundant innate immune cells that are constantly produced from myeloid progenitors in the bone marrow. Differentiated neutrophils can perform an arsenal of effector functions critical for host defense. This study aims to quantitatively understand neutrophil mitochondrial metabolism throughout differentiation and activation, and to elucidate the impact of mitochondrial metabolism on neutrophil functions.

Introduction: Vancomycin-resistant (VRE) poses a significant challenge in clinical settings due to its resistance to multiple antibiotics. Phage therapy offers a promising alternative to address this resistance crisis. However, critical gaps remain regarding optimal dosing, therapeutic design, and treatment timing for phage therapy targeting VRE-induced bacteremia.

Neutrophils are critical for host defense against fungi. However, the short life span and lack of genetic tractability of primary human neutrophils has limited in vitro analysis of neutrophil-fungal interactions. Human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neutrophils (iNeutrophils) provide a genetically tractable system to study host defense responses of human neutrophils.

Background: This study investigates the correlation between the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and cognitive performance in the senior American population, focusing on those without diabetes from 2011 to 2014.

Methods: We analyzed data from the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), focusing on non-diabetic participants aged 60 and older who completed cognitive tests: Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's disease (CERAD), the Animal Fluency test (AFT), and Digit Symbol Substitution test (DSST). WWI was calculated using waist circumference divided by the square root of body weight.

Nucleic acid, as a carrier of genetic information, has been widely employed as a building block for the construction of versatile nanostructures with pre-designed sizes and shapes through complementary base pairing. With excellent programmability, addressability, and biocompatibility, nucleic acid nanostructures are extensively applied in biomedical researches, such as bio-imaging, bio-sensing, and drug delivery. Notably, the original gene-encoding capability of the nucleic acids themselves has been utilized in these structurally well-defined nanostructures.

Propyrisulfuron, a novel sulfonylurea herbicide, effectively suppresses intracellular acetolactate synthase activity for weed control, but its adsorption behavior in the soil environment remains unclear. To assess potential agroecosystem risks, the adsorption-desorption behavior and mechanism of propyrisulfuron in six typical agricultural soils of China were investigated using a batch equilibrium method, Density Functional Theory (DFT), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy equipped with Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) techniques. It is indicated that the adsorption-desorption of propyrisulfuron in six soils reached equilibrium at 36 h under the optimum water-to-soil ratio (WSr) of 5:1.

The Daguangbao landslide (DGBL), triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, is a rare instance of super-giant landslides globally. The post-earthquake evolution of the DGBL has garnered significant attention in recent years; however, its deformation patterns remain poorly characterized owing to the complex local topography. In this study, we present the first observations of the surface dynamics of DGBL by integrating satellite- and ground-based InSAR data complemented by kinematic interpretation using a LiDAR-derived Digital Surface Model (DSM).

As naturally essential biomacromolecule, HSA has become diagnostic indicators for various diseases and universal carriers for anticancer drug delivery, therefore, fluorescence detection and labeling for HSA possess significant application value in the biomedical field. In this paper, hydrazide Schiff base fluorescent probe NDQC was designed and synthesized, which self-assembled into nanoparticles in aqueous solution system and demonstrated excellent selectivity and sensitivity towards HSA. Through displacement assay and molecular docking simulation, the binding of NDQC with HSA in FA1 site was demonstrated, thereby no obvious fluorescence signal presented for homologous protein BSA due to their structural differences in binding site.

Keloid scarring is a fibroproliferative disease of the skin, which can significantly impact one's quality of life through cosmetic concerns, physical discomfort (itchy; painful), restricted movement, and psychological distress. Owing to the poorly understood pathogenesis of keloids and their high recurrence rate, the efficacy of keloid treatment remains unsatisfactory, particularly in patients susceptible to multiple keloids. We conducted fecal metagenomic analyzes and both untargeted and targeted plasma metabolomics in patients with multiple keloids (MK,  = 56) and controls with normal scars (NS,  = 60); tissue-untargeted metabolomics (MK,  = 35; NS,  = 32), tissue-targeted metabolomics (MK,  = 41; NS,  = 36), and single-cell sequencing analyzes (GSE163973).

The lactating mammary gland strongly induces de novo lipogenesis (DNL) to support the synthesis of fatty acids, triglycerides, and cholesterol found within milk. In monogastric species, glucose is a major substrate utilized for DNL within the lactating mammary gland and must be efficiently taken up and processed to supply cytosolic acetyl-CoA for DNL. Along with the enzymes of the DNL pathway, the glycolytic enzyme, Aldolase C (Aldoc), is transcriptionally upregulated and is highly expressed during lactation in the mammary gland, suggesting a role for Aldoc in lactation.
