Long-term sequelae of stage 4A ROP after successful management with lens-sparing vitrectomy.

We present an unusual case of a macular lesion, possibly a spontaneously closed macular hole, at a 4-year follow-up visit, after lens-sparing vitrectomy (LSV) in stage 4A retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Optical coherence tomography scans of the macula were suggestive of a spontaneously closed macular hole and fibrovascular proliferation at the equator. We hypothesise that tangential traction by residual posterior hyaloid could lead to late macular hole formation after LSV in ROP.

All-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) offer improved morphological and mechanical stability compared with those containing small-molecule-acceptors (SMAs). They can be processed with a broader range of conditions, making them desirable for printing techniques. In this study, we report a high-performance polymer acceptor design based on bithiazole linker (PY-BTz) that are on par with SMAs.

Comparison of salivary flow rate and pH between healthy subjects and tobacco and areca nut chewers.

Introduction: Tobacco and areca nuts release carcinogens, which cause alterations in saliva. Evaluation of these changes through estimation of salivary flow rate and pH was performed in tobacco and areca nut chewers and apparently healthy subjects.

Material And Methods: The study group for this comparative study comprised 60 subjects with 20 areca nut chewers (group 1), 20 tobacco chewers (group 2), and 20 non-tobacco and areca nut chewers (group 3) in the ages between 18 and 75 years.

Enhanced quantum capacitance of MX(M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn; X = N, P) moieties embedded graphene: a DFT study.

In this work, density functional theory calculations are performed to study the impact of embedding transition metal-(N/P)moieties in graphene on its geometric structure, electronic properties, and quantum capacitance. Enhancement of quantum capacitance of transition metal doped nitrogen/phosphorus pyridinic graphenes is observed, which is directly related to the availability of states near the Fermi level. The findings show that electronic properties and hence quantum capacitance of graphene can be tuned by varying transition metal dopants and/or their coordination environment.

Clinical and surgical outcomes of glaucoma drainage device tube in ciliary sulcus versus anterior chamber in North Indian glaucoma patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the outcome of glaucoma drainage device (GDD) insertion of tube through ciliary sulcus (CS) versus anterior chamber (AC) placement in the North Indian population.

Methods: This retrospective comparative case series included 43 patients in CS group and 24 in AC group, who underwent GDD implantation, from March 2014 to February 2020. The main outcome measures were intraocular pressure (IOP), number of anti-glaucoma medications, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and complications.

The devastating Varroa mite (Varroa destructor Anderson and Trueman) is an obligatory ectoparasite of the honey bee, contributing to significant colony losses in North America and throughout the world. The limited number of conventional acaricides to reduce Varroa mites and prevent disease in honey bee colonies is challenged with wide-spread resistance and low target-site selectivity. Here, we propose a biorational approach using comparative genomics for the development of honey bee-safe and selective acaricides targeting the Varroa mite-specific neuropeptidergic system regulated by proctolin, which is lacking in the honey bee.

The world's worst outbreak, the second COVID-19 wave, not only unleashed unprecedented devastation of human life, but also made an impact of lockdown in the Indian capital, New Delhi, in particulate matter (PM: PM and PM) virtually ineffective during April to May 2021. The air quality remained not only unabated but also was marred by some unusual extreme pollution events. SAFAR-framework model simulations with different sensitivity experiments were conducted using the newly developed lockdown emission inventory to understand various processes responsible for these anomalies in PM.

Prognostic factors for treatment response and survival outcomes after first-line management of Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer: A real-world Indian perspective.

Background: Indian data on treatment outcomes and survival in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain scarce.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of 537 advanced NSCLC patients treated at a tertiary care facility in North India from January 2008 to March 2018 was done to assess treatment response and survival in terms of objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS).

Results: Median age of enrolled patients was 60 years (range: 26-89 years).

An optical arrangement and procedure for photolithography on microscopic flakes of two-dimensional materials with an arbitrary shape/size is described. The technique combines projection of demagnified images of simple geometry macroscopic masks with writing. Only a few masks, such as vertical/horizontal slit and square hole, are sufficient to generate most of the required patterns.
