We analyze the possibility of symmetry-lowering induced by pseudo-Jahn-Teller interactions in six previously studied azaphenalenes that are known to have their first excited singlet state (S) lower in energy than the triplet state (T). The primary aim of this study is to explore whether Hund's rule violation is observed in these molecules when their structures are distorted from or point group symmetries by vibronic coupling. Along two interatomic distances connecting these point groups to their subgroups or , we relaxed the other internal degrees of freedom and calculated two-dimensional potential energy subsurfaces.

The International Society of Nephrology Global Kidney Health Atlas charts the availability and capacity of kidney care globally. In the North America and the Caribbean region, the Atlas can identify opportunities for kidney care improvement, particularly in Caribbean countries where structures for systematic data collection are lacking. In this third iteration, respondents from 12 of 18 countries from the region reported a 2-fold higher than global median prevalence of dialysis and transplantation, and a 3-fold higher than global median prevalence of dialysis centers.

Cell identity is governed by the complex regulation of gene expression, represented as gene-regulatory networks. Here we use gene-regulatory networks inferred from single-cell multi-omics data to perform in silico transcription factor perturbations, simulating the consequent changes in cell identity using only unperturbed wild-type data. We apply this machine-learning-based approach, CellOracle, to well-established paradigms-mouse and human haematopoiesis, and zebrafish embryogenesis-and we correctly model reported changes in phenotype that occur as a result of transcription factor perturbation.

The inclusion of the spin-orbit coupling effect in ferroelectric materials with non-centrosymmetry leads to intriguing properties for spintronic applications. In the present work, a comparative study of spin splitting in the bulk electronic energy bands of the tetragonal and rhombohedral phases of BiFeO (BFO) in terms of the Rashba and Dresselhaus effects is carried out through first-principles calculations. The obtained spin splittings, particularly at the conduction band minima, are further supplemented with an effective · model analysis.
