ICOSTreg cells exert important immunosuppressive effects in tumor immunity. We adopt a combination approach of ICOSTreg cells depletion with tumor cell vaccine to evaluate anti-tumor immunity in mouse prostate cancer model. Streptavidin (SA)-mGM-CSF surface-modified RM-1 cells were prepared as the vaccine and the mouse subcutaneous prostate tumor model was used to evaluate the immunity.

Rationale: An accessory ovary is a rare structure containing normal ovarian tissue, which has a direct or ligamentous connection with a normal and eutopic ovary.
Patient Concerns: In the study, we reported a 46-year-old woman presented with secondary amenorrhea and virilization symptoms for 1 year.
Diagnoses: Endocrine evaluation revealed slightly elevated serum cortisol, extremely elevated 24-hour urinary-free cortisol and serum testosterone.
BACKGROUND Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) has been reported to exert some beneficial effects on the central nervous system (CNS). However, the effect of GLP-1 on cognitive impairment associated with type 2 diabetes is not well known. This study investigated the effect of GLP-1 on ameliorating memory deficits in type 2 diabetic rats.

Herein, a novel and effective electrochemical method for the assay of DNA methyltransferase 1(DNMT1) activity has been successfully developed by using uracil-specific excision reagent (USER) induced G-quadruplex formation. Briefly, double stranded DNA containing the recognition sequence of DNMT1 is immobilized on the electrode.

The aim of this study was to investigate Tim-3 expression in invasive ductal breast cancer (IDC), its effect on clinicopathological parameters and its association with cytotoxic lymphocyte infiltration. Tim-3 protein expression was measured in 150 paraffin-embedded IDC specimens and 100 paired normal breast tissue specimens by immunohistochemistry.

Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) isoforms are a key group of growth factors that enhance bone formation. To explore the relation between denervation-induced reduction of bone formation and TGF-β gene expression, we measured mRNA levels of TGF-β in denervation mouse bone and found decreased mRNA levels of TGF-β1, TGF-β2 and TGF-β3.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of combined laparoscopic-endoscopic lower esophageal sphincterotomy and modified Dor fundoplication for cardiochalasia patients.
Methods: Clinical data of 11 cardiochalasia patients who underwent combined laparoscopic-endoscopic lower esophageal sphincterotomy and modified Dor fundoplication by the same medical team from January 2015 to December 2016 at The Second Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed. The procedure was as follows: an incision was made in the anterior wall of esophagus and dissection of esophageal muscular layer was performed, then the bulged esophageal mucosa was covered by the fundus after 180 degrees fold to the right (fundoplication), finally the gastric fundus was joined to the right diaphragmatic foot by 3 to 5 knotted suture.
Objective: To investigate the effects and safety of recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide (rhBNP) in the treatment of elderly acute myocardial infarction induced cardiac failure.
Methods: One hundred and forty-six patients who were diagnosed as elderly acute myocardial infarction induced cardiac failure in the hospital from July 2014 to July 2015 were selected. They were divided into a test group and a control group, 73 each.
Program death receptor-1 (PD-1)/program death ligand 1 (PD-L1) signaling plays an important role in tumor adaptive immune resistance. The streptavidin-granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (SA-GM-CSF) surface-modified tumor cells vaccine developed through our novel protein-anchor technology could significantly promote the activation of dendritic cells. Although GM-CSF vaccine could significantly increase the number of tumor-specific CD8T-cells, the majority of these CD8T-cells expressed PD-1.

Selenium (Se) may provide chemoprotection against Cd-induced cytotoxicity by augmenting the cellular antioxidant capacity. However, the mechanism of Se chemoprotection against Cd-induced hepatotoxicity is unclear.

In the present study, we sought to investigate the influence of high fat diet on the core clock genes and the muscle functional genes daily expression in the skeletal muscle of Chinese soft-shelled turtle. The turtles were fed by two diets including a control fat diet (the CON treatment, 7.98% lipid) and a high fat diet (the HFD treatment, 13.

There is a continuing need not only for improving the accuracy of diagnostic markers but also for the development of new treatment strategies. Recent studies have shown that the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), which include the angiotensin type 1 (AT1R), type 2(AT2R), and Mas receptors, play an important role in tumorigenesis and may guide us in meeting those needs.

Here, we demonstrated that MCM7 is not only sustained but maintains association with chromatin during M phase. Remarkably, MCM7 siRNA can accelerate mitotic exit.

In this study, nitrate-contaminated wastewater was treated effectively through simultaneous autotrophic and heterotrophic denitrification based on micro-electrolysis carriers (MECs) and retinervus luffae fructus (RLF), respectively. The average nitrate and total nitrogen removal rates reached 96.

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results showed that heating significantly decreased β-sheets and β-turn structures in gluten proteins between 25 and 55 °C. The addition of WEAX caused a transition from β-turn to β-sheets at >55 °C.

This combined mutagenesis strategy was applied successfully to the monoamine oxidase from (MAO-N) in the reaction of sterically demanding substrates which are of interest in the synthesis of chiral pharmaceuticals based on the benzo-piperidine scaffold. Reversal of enantioselectivity of Turner-type deracemization was achieved in the synthesis of ()-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-methyl-isoquinoline, ()-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-ethylisoquinoline and ()-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-isopropylisoquinoline.

C2 showed better anticancer activity than C1 in various human cancer cell lines, including the cisplatin-resistant lung cancer cell line A549cisR. Both Cu(II) complexes, especially C2, displayed promising anti-metastatic activity against HepG2 cells.
