The migration and immobilization of heavy metals in soil and groundwater pose significant environmental challenges, particularly in the context of Cr(VI), a highly toxic and mobile contaminant. Self-hardening slurry materials, commonly used for trench cutoff walls, have gained great attention due to their potential for pollutant containment. However, the relationship between their adsorption properties and pollutant diffusion behaviors remains poorly understood.

Here we show that PCIF1, an RNA N 2'-O-dimethyladenosine (mA) methyltransferase, negatively regulates CD8 T cell antitumor responses. Whole-body or T cell-specific Pcif1 knockout (KO) reduced tumor growth in mice.

Randomness is an essential resource and plays important roles in various applications ranging from cryptography to simulation of complex systems. Certified randomness from quantum process is ensured to have the element of privacy but usually relies on the device's behavior. To certify randomness without the characterization for device, it is crucial to realize the one-sided device-independent random number generation based on quantum steering, which guarantees security of randomness and relaxes the demands of one party's device.

The Retinoblastoma (RB) protein is crucial for regulating gene transcription and chromatin remodeling, impacting cell cycle progression, cellular senescence, and tumorigenesis. Cellular senescence, characterized by irreversible growth arrest and phenotypic alterations, serves as a vital barrier against tumor progression and age-related diseases. RB is crucial in mediating senescence and tumor suppression by modulating the RB-E2F pathway and cross talking with other key senescence effectors such as p53 and p16.

However, the underlying regulatory mechanisms of MALAT1 in sorafenib-resistant HCC cells remain unclear. In the present study, we demonstrated that 5-methylcytosine (mC) methylation catalyzed by NSUN2 and ALYREF contributed to the RNA stability and upregulation of MALAT1.

Despite the prevalent of hexagonal, tetragonal, and triangular pore structures in two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs), the pentagonal pores remain conspicuously absent. We herein present the Cairo pentagonal tessellated COFs, achieved through precisely chosen geometry and metrics of the linkers, resulting in unprecedented mcm topology. In each pentagonal structure, porphyrin units create four uniform sides around 15.

Here, we report the novel 3D COFs with linear and trigonal linkers, termed TMB-COFs, exhibiting srs topology. The steric hindrance provides an additional force to alter the torsion angles of peripheral triangular units, guiding the linear unit to connect with the trigonal unit into 3D srs frameworks, rather than the more commonly observed two-dimensional (2D) hcb structures.

Herein, three-dimensional metal covalent organic frameworks (3D MCOFs) were employed as an innovative platform to integrate a strong Ru(ii) light-harvesting unit, an active Re(i) catalytic center, and an efficient charge separation configuration for photocatalysis. The photosensitive moiety was precisely stabilized into the covalent skeleton by using a rational-designed Ru(ii) complex as one of the building units, while the Re(i) center was linked a shared bridging ligand with an Ru(ii) center, opening an effective pathway for their electronic interaction.

Herein, two complementary photosensitizers, [Ru(bpy)] (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) and porphyrin dyes, have been cosensitized in metal covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs), resulting in the MCOFs with strong light absorption covering the full visible spectrum. Under panchromatic light irradiation, the cosensitized MCOFs exhibited remarkable photocatalytic H evolution with an optimum rate of up to 33.

Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent type of regulated cell death resulting from extensive lipid peroxidation and plays a critical role in various physiological and pathological processes. However, the regulatory mechanisms for ferroptosis sensitivity remain incompletely understood. Here, we report that homozygous deletion of (ubiquitin-specific protease 8) in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) leads to architectural changes in the colonic epithelium and shortens mouse lifespan accompanied by increased IEC death and signs of lipid peroxidation.

Harnessing the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) axis is pivotal in autoimmunity and cancer immunotherapy. PD-1 receptors on immune cells engage with one of its ligands, PD-L1 or PD-L2, expressed on antigen-presenting cells or tumor cells, driving T-cell dysfunction and tumor immune escape. Thus, targeting PD-1/PD-L1 revitalizes cytotoxic T cells for cancer elimination.
