Two new classes of heteroarene-fused [1,2,4]thiadiazole and [1,2,4]selenadiazole are synthesized through the iodine-mediated [3 + 2] oxidative cyclization of 2-aminoheteroarenes and isothiocyanates/isoselenocyanates. Gallic acid (GA) is a polyphenolic natural product widely distributed in food, beverage, and traditional Chinese herbs with beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. In this research, a comparative study was conducted to investigate the possible difference of pharmacokinetic process in normal and isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarcted rats after oral administration of GA monohydrate with the dose of 50 and 100 mg/kg, respectively. β-defensin family plays a role in host defense against viral infection, however its role in HCV infection is still unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that β-defensin 1 was significantly reduced in HCV-infected liver specimens.
