Article Synopsis
  • An AI-based model was developed to predict cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) using Radiomics and deep learning features from PET/CT images, combined with clinical data.
  • The study involved 300 ESCC patients for training and testing, plus an additional 111 patients for external validation; various machine learning algorithms were tested, with logistic regression being the final model chosen.
  • The final DL-Radiomics-Clinical (DRC) model showed the best performance metrics, including an AUC of 0.955 and high accuracy rates, indicating its potential as a non-invasive tool for predicting CLNM in ESCC patients.

A bioresponsive polymeric nanocarrier for drug delivery is able to alter its physical and physicochemical properties in response to a variety of biological signals and pathological changes, and can exert its therapeutic efficacy within a confined space. These nanosystems can optimize the biodistribution and subcellular location of therapeutics by exploiting the differences in biochemical properties between tumors and normal tissues. Moreover, bioresponsive polymer-based nanosystems could be rationally designed as precision therapeutic platforms by optimizing the combination of responsive elements and therapeutic components according to the patient-specific disease type and stage.

Orthogonal experiments were designed for hybrid fiber rubber concrete (HFRC). The mechanical properties of HFRC were tested and compared with ordinary concrete. The effects of basalt fiber volume ratio (), PVA fiber volume ratio () and rubber volume ratio () on the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength of HFRC were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the use of readout-segmented echo-planar diffusion-weighted imaging (RESOLVE) and its apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values as biomarkers for rectal adenocarcinoma.
  • Significant differences in RESOLVE ADC values were found between pathologic types, with ulcer-type cancer showing higher values than eminence-type.
  • Additionally, EGFR-positive tumors had lower RESOLVE ADC values compared to EGFR-negative tumors, possibly indicating differences in biological behavior, while no significant differences were noted across other pathological factors like differentiation and TN stages.

Aim: To investigate the anti-proliferation and radiosensitization effect of chitooligosaccharides (COS) on human colon cancer cell line SW480.

Methods: SW480 cells were treated with 0, 1.0, 2.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of changes in the horizontal plane angle on the mesiodistal width ratios of the maxillary anterior teeth during the acquisition of frontal view photographs, derive these ratios for Korean adults on the basis of the data obtained, and analyze them using the Golden Proportion as a reference.

Materials And Methods: In experiment I, 30 plaster casts were mounted on an articulator and positioned on the angle-measuring device with a center setting of 0°. The device was rotated to 10° in 1° increments in a counterclockwise direction.

Objective: To investigate the anti-proliferation effect and mechanism of zoledronic acid (ZOL) on human colon cancer line SW480.

Methods: SW480 cells were treated with 0, 12.5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 μmoL/L of ZOL for 48 h, and CCK-8 assay was employed to obtain the survival rate of SW480 cells.

Aim: To assess the diagnostic value of serum interleukin-8 (IL-8) in the detection of colorectal cancer (CRC).

Methods: An original study was conducted to explore the potential value of IL-8 in CRC diagnosis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed and the area under the curve (AUC) value was calculated.

1. We tested whether pretreatment of reagents known to induce hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) may confer chemoresistance against cytotoxicity of 1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BCNU) to rat C6 glioma cells. We also studied which cytotoxic mechanism(s) of chloroethylnitrosoureas could be neutralized by cobalt preconditioning.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of H(1) blocker in combination with low dose inhaled corticosteroid on allergic asthma.

Methods: A multi-center, double blind, randomized, placebo control study was conducted in 67 patients with mild to moderate allergic asthma. Patients were randomized to receive either Loratadine 10 mg or placebo twice a day on the basis of inhaled beclomethasone dipropionate (400 microg/d for 14 days, then reduced to 200 microg/d) for 5.
