A new microplate luminometry method was developed to assess chemical toxicity using firefly luciferase in a multifunctional microplate reader.
The study systematically tested various factors influencing luminescence, finding that optimal ATP concentration for maximum light output was 1.1 x 10(-4) mol x L(-1).
The method effectively evaluated the toxic effects of several chemicals, showing high accuracy and fast results using dose-response curves with R2 values over 0.99 and precise EC50 measurements.
