Aim: To investigate the effects of a new opening pattern in neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy on visual function.
Methods: This technique was conducted along a circular pattern. The energy ranged between 0.
Strabismus in adults is increasing and has recently become an important focus of attention due to the development of refractive surgery techniques. In this case, permanent strabismus developed in a woman with previous high myopia after implantable anterior intraocular lens surgery. An ophthalmologic examination revealed the presence of a lens which was placed slightly downward in relation to the center of visual axis in the anterior chambers and up-drawn pupils in both eyes.

Methods: Thirty eyes, in which the intraocular pressure (IOP) could not be controlled within the proper range by medication or laser treatment, were targeted in this study. After trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (0.
Purpose: Bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), specifically binds to VEGF protein, and inhibits angiogenesis. Intravitreal/intracameral injection of bevacizumab has been reported as another treatment option for patients with various ocular ischemic conditions. However, we report 4 cases of acute vision loss after bevacizumab intravitreal injection.

Methods: Effective concentrations and toxicities of curcumin were determined after 3 h of curcumin treatment with the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Confluent human retinal pigment epithelium cell lines (ARPE-19) were preincubated with curcumin and oxidatively challenged with H(2)O(2).

Retrobulbar hemorrhage and permanent visual loss are rare presentations following traumatic asphyxia. In this case, bilateral permanent visual disturbance developed in a woman after chest-crushing trauma without direct trauma to the orbits. A computed tomography scan confirmed bilateral retrobulbar hemorrhages.

Design: Observational case series.
Methods: We prospectively evaluated the change in density and shape of the corneal endothelium in 41 patients (41 eyes) who had undergone AGV implantation for the treatment of refractory glaucoma.
Purpose: To determine the effect of Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implantation on corneal endothelial cells.
Methods: Ahmed glaucoma valves were implanted in 30 eyes of 30 patients with refractory glaucoma. Corneal endothelial cell density and shape was prospectively evaluated in both the subject and fellow eyes of each patient.
