Hemoptysis is a common cause of emergency department (ED) visits. There is little data about the role of systemic hypertension as a cause of hemoptysis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between systemic blood pressure and the unknown etiology of hemoptysis.

We present a case of new-onset pulmonary embolism (PE), possibly associated with excessive creatine supplement intake. A 24-year-old non-smoker male presented to the emergency department with sudden-onset dyspnoea and chest discomfort.

Typical military protective suits have drawbacks such as high weight, bulky structure, and unpredictable lifetime. A durable, light, and scalable graphene e-fabric was fabricated from CVD-grown graphene by a simple co-lamination method.

In this study, a new APP system design-wearable APP (WAPP)-that utilizes a knitting technique to assemble flexible co-axial wire electrodes into a large-area plasma fabric is presented. The WAPP device operates in ambient air with a fully enclosed power electrode and grounded outer electrode.

Among various factors affected bone health, not only dietary calcium and phosphorus intakes, but also the dietary calcium/phosphorus ratio could relate to bone health. Therefore, we evaluated whether dietary calcium and phosphorus intakes, and dietary calcium/phosphorus ratio are associated with bone mass in Korean adults ≥ 20 years of age.

The functions of zinc may have a potential association with metabolic syndrome, but such associations have not been investigated extensively. Therefore, we examined the relationship between serum zinc levels and metabolic syndrome or metabolic risk factors among South Korean adults ≥ 20 years of age.

A 7 µm long ZnO nanorod array was grown from the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass via a liquid phase deposition method. The TiO(2) sol-gel solution templated by the PVC-g-P4VP graft copolymer produced a random 3D interconnection between the adjacent ZnO nanorods during spin coating.

Interestingly, the k(obsd) value decreases significantly as the concentration of EtOM increases. Because the phenolic moiety of substrate 7 would be deprotonated and exist as an anionic form (i.

These copolymers are used as a structure-directing agent for organized mesoporous TiO(2) films with no grain boundaries, leading to enhanced solar conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells.

A novel amphiphilic graft copolymer, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene)-g-poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-P4VP) at 65:35 wt.%, respectively, was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), as confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Silver bromide (AgBr) nanoparticles were in situ generated within the self-assembled P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-P4VP graft copolymer.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-coated iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)(5) (iron pentacarbonyl) in one step. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electrophoretic light scattering (ELS), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) together with the variation of the molar ratio of PVP/Fe(CO)(5), solvent, and molecular weight of PVP, were used to characterize the PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles. Fifty to hundred nanometer-sized iron oxide nanoclusters with a spherical shape were formed in dimethylformamide (DMF), used as a solvent, and exhibited an enhanced stability in the aqueous media.
