Background: Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) has been proposed to be effective for treating chronic insomnia at high altitudes.

Methods: Patients suffering from chronic insomnia at high altitude were randomly assigned at a 1:1 ratio to either the hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment group or the control group for a 10-day procedure. The one-dimensional spin-1/2 XXZ model with the limited case of the staggered Gamma interaction which includes the staggered DM and KSEA interactions is investigated by utilizing the infinite-time evolving block decimation method in the infinite matrix product state representation. It is shown that the staggered DM interaction does not lead to any new phase but expands the XY phase. Contrasted to the DM interaction, the region of the ferromagnetic phase expands into the nematic-ferromagnetic and dimer-Haldane phases with the deconfined quantum phase transition happening in the case of KSEA interaction.

In this study, we report a high-performance acetone gas sensor utilizing a bilayer structure composed of a ZnO nanorod top layer and a ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorod bottom layer. ZnO nanorods were synthesized via a water-bath method, after which the ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorods were prepared using a simple immersion and calcination method. SEM and TEM revealed the porous morphology of the samples and the formation of ZnO-ZnFeO heterojunctions.

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique provides a quick and reliable method for detecting pesticide residues. In this study, flexible substrates, composed of orderly arranged silver nanospheres (Ag NPs) films on graphene paper, were fabricated through a simple, low-cost Ag NP self-assembly process at a liquid-liquid interface, followed by transfer of the films onto the graphene paper. The SERS performance of the fabricated substrates was evaluated using a portable Raman spectrometer, with rhodamine 6G (R6G) serving as the probe molecule.

It has been established that N-acetyltransferase (murine NAT1 (mNAT1) and human NAT2 (hNAT2)) mediates insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes. Here we show that mNAT1 deficiency leads to a decrease in cellular spermidine-a natural polyamine exhibiting health-protective and anti-ageing effects-but understanding of its mechanism is limited. We identify that mNAT1 and hNAT2 modulate a type of post-translational modification involving acetylated spermidine, which we name acetylhypusination, on receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (RIPK1)-a key regulator of inflammation and cell death.
