In this study, we report a high-performance acetone gas sensor utilizing a bilayer structure composed of a ZnO nanorod top layer and a ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorod bottom layer. ZnO nanorods were synthesized via a water-bath method, after which the ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorods were prepared using a simple immersion and calcination method. SEM and TEM revealed the porous morphology of the samples and the formation of ZnO-ZnFeO heterojunctions.

Assessment of the feeding habits of the genetically modified farmed fish is necessary, as this is closely related to the assessment of their growth performance, which is one of the most important economic traits. Previously, we developed a novel strategy to produce all-female (AF) common carp (+/-;XX genotype) with genome editing, which exhibited a growth advantage compared to the control carp (including control male and female carp).

PCD in microglia, including necroptosis, pyroptosis, apoptosis, ferroptosis, and autophagy, occurs in a variety of central nervous system (CNS) diseases. Dysregulation of microglia can lead to excessive tissue damage or neuronal death in CNS injury.

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique provides a quick and reliable method for detecting pesticide residues. In this study, flexible substrates, composed of orderly arranged silver nanospheres (Ag NPs) films on graphene paper, were fabricated through a simple, low-cost Ag NP self-assembly process at a liquid-liquid interface, followed by transfer of the films onto the graphene paper. The SERS performance of the fabricated substrates was evaluated using a portable Raman spectrometer, with rhodamine 6G (R6G) serving as the probe molecule.

Here we show that mNAT1 deficiency leads to a decrease in cellular spermidine-a natural polyamine exhibiting health-protective and anti-ageing effects-but understanding of its mechanism is limited. We identify that mNAT1 and hNAT2 modulate a type of post-translational modification involving acetylated spermidine, which we name acetylhypusination, on receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (RIPK1)-a key regulator of inflammation and cell death.

Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) is a common Gram-negative anaerobic bacterium found in various inflammatory diseases, and there are also reports suggesting its involvement in cancer progression. This study discussed molecular mechanisms of Fn-induced immune escape in BC cells.

The effects of slurry solid content and exposure density on printing accuracy, curing depth, shrinkage rate, and relative density were evaluated. For the slurry with a solid content of 80 wt%, the curing depth achieved 40 μm with minimal overgrowth under an exposure intensity of 16.

Lysine acetylation, an evolutionarily conserved post-translational protein modification, is reversibly catalyzed by lysine acetyltransferases and lysine deacetylases. Lysine acetylation, which was first discovered on histones, mainly functions to configure the structure of chromatin and regulate gene transcriptional activity. Over the past decade, with advances in high-resolution mass spectrometry, a vast and growing number of non-histone proteins modified by acetylation in various plant species have been identified.

This study aims to explore the association between polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the odds of depression symptoms in women experiencing infertility.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
Bacterial leaf streak (BLS), caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc), is a major bacterial disease in rice. Transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs) from Xanthomonas can induce host susceptibility (S) genes and facilitate infection.

Here, we first examined the role of α7 nAChR in ZIKV infection in vitro. A broad effect of α7 nAChR activation was identified in limiting ZIKV infection in multiple cell lines.

In this study, we combined aluminum chloride solution with ZVI (pcZVI-AlCl) to enhance Cr(VI) removal behavior under aerobic conditions. The optimal pre-corrosion conditions were found to be 2.

Data was collected through an online survey conducted in South Florida in May 2020. Survey data showed that telework indices (either measured through actual behavior or stated preference) before, during, and after the pandemic were heterogeneous across socio-economic, demographic, and attitudinal segments.

Background: Patients with malignancies have an increased risk of suffering ischemic stroke via several mechanisms such as coagulation dysfunction and other malignancy-related effects as well as iatrogenic causes. Moreover, stroke can be the first sign of an occult malignancy, termed as malignancy-associated ischemic stroke (MAS). Therefore, timely diagnostic assessment and targeted management of this complex clinical situation are critical.

Under laboratory conditions, this continuous reorientation of the root tip is manifested as coiling or waving, which we refer to as root circumnutation. However, the effect of ambient temperature (AT) on root circumnutation remains unexplored.

Our previous studies demonstrated that depletion of the cytochrome P450 17a1 gene (cyp17a1) leads to all-testis differentiation phenotype in zebrafish and common carp. In the present study, cyp17a1-deficient zebrafish with defective estrogen biosynthesis were used for the evaluation of EEs, as assessed by monitoring vitellogenin (vtg) expression.

Recently, we have shown that compromised androgen and estrogen synthesis with increased progestin leads to all-male differentiation with proper testis development and spermatogenesis in cytochrome P450 17a1 (cyp17a1)-/- zebrafish. In the present study, the phenotypes of female-biased sex ratio were positively correlated with higher Fanconi anemia complementation group L (fancl) expression in the gonads of doublesex and mab-3 related transcription factor 1 (dmrt1)-/- and cyp17a1-/-;dmrt1-/- fish.

It has been widely known that proper steroidogenesis in Leydig cells and sex-related genes in Sertoli cells play important roles in gonadal sex differentiation. In teleosts, the precise interaction of these signals during the sexual fate determination remains elusive, especially their effect on the bi-potential gonad during the critical stage of sexual fate determination.
