Background: PSMA expression in the prostate epithelium is controlled by a cis-element, PSMA enhancer (PSME). PSME contains multiple binding sites for Sox proteins, and in this study, we identified Sox7 protein as a negative regulator of PSMA expression through its interaction with PSME.
Methods: The statistical correlation between Sox7 and PSMA mRNA expression was evaluated using five prostate cancer studies from cBioportal.
The intra-tumor heterogeneity is associated with cancer progression and therapeutic resistance, such as in breast cancer. While the existing methods for studying tumor heterogeneity only analyze variant allele frequency (VAF), the genotype of variant is also informative for inferring subclones, which can be detected by long reads or paired-end reads. We developed GenoClone to integrate VAF with the genotype of variant innovatively, so it showed superior performance of inferring the number of subclones, estimating the fractions of subclones and identifying somatic single-nucleotide variants composition of subclones.

However, the definite role of ORMDL3 in the pathogenesis of asthma remains unclear. In this study, we found ORMDL3 was highly expressed in PBMC specimens from childhood asthma patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOur previous studies revealed that GADD45α is a liable protein, which undergoes MDM2-dependent constitutive ubiquitination and degradation in resting HepG2 hepatoma cells. Arsenite exposure induces ribosomal stress responses mediated by the ribosomal protein S7, which can block MDM2 activity and result in GADD45α accumulation and cell apoptosis. In the present study, we found that one of the catalytic subunits of IκB kinase (IKK), IKKβ, exerted a novel IKKα- and NF-κB-independent function in stabilizing MDM2 and therefore contributed to ubiquitination-dependent degradation of GADD45α in resting HepG2 cells.

Neonatal Wistar rats were used for the DDH model with swaddling position. Primary cultures of chondrocytes were prepared at serial interval stages (2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks) to investigate cellular proliferation.

Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels are a group of non-selective cation channels expressed throughout the body that are regulated by various stimuli. TRP channels have been identified in numerous cell types in the respiratory tract, including sensory neurons, airway epithelial cells, airway smooth muscle cells, and fibroblasts.

In this study, we identified that IGFBP2, overexpressed in SACC, correlated positively with perineural invasion or metastasis and indicated worse outcome. Moreover, IGFBP2 overexpression could dramatically improve motility and invasion capacity of SACC cells in vitro.

Due to the complexity of Chinese medicine theory and the uncertainty of clinical application, the prescription review of Chinese patent medicine always relied on experience in their respective, leading to the uncontrolled of clinical rational use. According to the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory and characteristics of the unique clinical therapeutics, based on the practice experience and expertise comments, our paper formed the expert consensus on the prescription review of Chinese traditional patent medicine for promoting the rational use of drugs in Beijing.

However, its cellular functions and related mechanisms in osteosarcoma remain unclear. In the present study, a higher GPNMB mRNA level was observed in osteosarcoma tissues, than in adjacent non‑cancerous tissues.

Chinese patent medicine containing aconitine is the key in clinical rational drug use. These drugs contain Chuanwu, Caowu or Fuzi, and Aconitum brachypodum with functions of expelling wind-dampness or tonifying Yang, all of which shall be used by strictly following the indications and dosage. However, there are many kinds of such drugs.

However the downstream regulatory network of STAT3 signaling remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism underlying how STAT3 triggers enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) expression and inhibits microRNA (miR)-200a/b/429 expression in SCC25 and SCC15 cells in vitro and in vivo.

Hence, mining the underlying mechanism of malignancies above and translating the bench outcomes to clinical practice are in urgent need. Previous studies found that the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) increases and co-expresses with EGFRvIII in HNSCC tissues, which indicates poor prognosis of HNSCC patients.

However, their safety profile, especially the silicone-induced immune response, has been a major concern for plastic surgeons for decades. It has been hypothesized that there is a cause and effect relation between silicone and immunity, but this is controversial.

After injection, complications such as pain, mass, hematoma, asymmetry, migration, infection, and even cancer continue to emerge. Because of the potential toxicity and unstable nature of the material and the nonstandardized injection layers, complications after PAAG injection breast augmentation are often complex and difficult to treat.

Although its functional activation by viral infection has been widely explicated, the regulatory mechanism of IRF-3 gene expression in cancer cells is poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrated treatment of lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells with trichostatin A (TSA) and valproic acid (VPA), two different classes of histone deacetylase inhibitors, strongly stimulated IRF-3 gene expression.

We found that TF is aberrantly present in large percentage of aggressive triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PaC), two most lethal forms of malignancy that urgently need effective treatment. TF expression in TNBC clustered with higher levels of vimentin, basal-type keratins KRT5/14 and caveolin-1 but lower levels of luminal-type biomarkers.
