Differential apoptotic response in HPV-infected cancer cells of the uterine cervix after doxorubicin treatment.

This study aimed to evaluate differential apoptotic response in uterine cervical cancer cells with and without HPV infection after chemotherapy. CaSki (HPV 16-positive) and C33A (mutant p53 and HPV-negative) cells were used. Cell viability was assessed by trypan blue cell exclusion test.

Expression of beta-catenin and its mechanism of delocalization in intestinal-type early gastric cancer based on mucin expression.

The biological characteristics of intestinal-type early gastric cancers (ICs) differ based on mucin phenotypes. Beta-catenin delocalization is a predictive marker of aggressive biological behavior (submucosal invasion and lymph node metastasis) of ICs. The presumptive causative genetic alterations leading to delocalization of beta-catenin in ICs are still controversial, and there are only a few reports regarding beta-catenin expression in gastric cancer based on mucin phenotypes.

Expression of aquaporin-5 and its regulation in skeletal muscle cells.

The aquaporins constitute a family of homologous intrinsic membrane proteins that function as highly selective water channels and are highly expressed in tissues where rapid water movement across the cell membrane is required. Molecular mechanism of water transport through the plasma membrane of skeletal muscle is still not clear. This study was designed to identify aquaporin subtypes and their expression regulation in C2C12 cells, a mouse myoblastic cell line.
