Background: Academic Burnout (ABO) is prevalent among medical students and is characterized by mental and physical exhaustion, cynicism, and a sense of inadequacy. Informal Peer-Assisted Learning (IPAL) is recognized as an effective strategy to enhance student wellness and mitigate ABO by fostering collaborative learning and support without direct faculty oversight. This study evaluates the effectiveness of IPAL in reducing ABO, focusing on the mediation of the observed variables and its impact on student well-being.

Background: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is one of the most efficient therapeutic options available to cure many hematological malignancies. The aim of this multicenter retrospective study was to validate the TSG signature in patients with mHSPC treated with ADT and an androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI) and to explore clinical characteristics at progression according to TSG status.

Pericardial edema - fluid accumulation within the pericardium - is a frequently observed malformation in zebrafish embryo-based chemical toxicity screens. We recently discovered that the severity of triphenyl phosphate (TPHP)-induced pericardial edema was dependent on the ionic strength of exposure media. TPHP is an aryl phosphate ester (APE) widely used as a plasticizer and flame retardant.

Here, we aimed to elucidate the relationships between microbiome, HPV, sociodemographic, and behavioral risk factors to better understand an increased cervical cancer risk in Native American women.

Neural Changes after Vision Therapy in Convergence Insufficiency: A Systematic Review.

Objective: To investigate if the use of vision therapy (VT) in convergence insufficiency (CI) has a significant neural impact and how it correlates with the clinical changes occurring with this option of treatment.

Methods: A systematic review of the scientific literature was carried out in the PubMed and Scopus databases, where all the scientific literature on the neural impact of VT in CI was analyzed. A total of 17 articles were initially found and a detailed analysis was carried out.

Damage in a large systemic lupus erythematosus cohort from the Spanish Society of Rheumatology Lupus Registry (RELESSER) with emphasis on the cardiovascular system: a longitudinal analysis.

Objective: To assess organ damage, with emphasis on the cardiovascular system, over the different stages of the disease in a large SLE cohort.

Methods: Multicentre, longitudinal study of a cohort of 4219 patients with SLE enrolled in the Spanish Society of Rheumatology Lupus Registry. Organ damage was ascertained using the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics/American College of Rheumatology Damage Index (SDI).

A Bicultural Community-Academic Partnership to Improve the Latina/o Physician Workforce in Washington State (2019-2021).

From July 2019 through April 2021, the Latino Center for Health, a bicultural population health research center at the University of Washington, partnered with community stakeholders to generate evidence to inform elected officials about the need to increase the diversity of the state's physician workforce and ultimately improve Latina/o health in Washington state. Legislative efforts resulted in legislation creating goals for the state's medical schools to admit students representative of the state's population diversity and the creation of a new residency pathway for international medical graduates. Recent evidence suggests that chronic exposure to opioid analgesics such as morphine disrupts the intestinal epithelial layer and causes intestinal dysbiosis. Depleting gut bacteria can preclude the development of tolerance to opioid-induced antinociception, suggesting an important role of the gut-brain axis in mediating opioid effects. The mechanism underlying opioid-induced dysbiosis, however, remains unclear.
