Objective: To examine patient preference after stapedotomy versus cochlear implantation in a unique case of a patient with symmetrical profound mixed hearing loss and similar postoperative speech perception improvement.
Patients: An adult patient with bilateral symmetrical far advanced otosclerosis, with profound mixed hearing loss.
Intervention: Stapedotomy in the left ear, cochlear implantation in the right ear.
Objective: To examine the otologic and neurotologic symptoms, physical examination findings, and imaging features secondary to hematologic malignancies.
Methods: Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL, were searched for articles including patients with otologic manifestations of leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Data collected included patient and study demographics, specific hematologic malignancy, timing and classification of otologic symptoms, physical examination findings, imaging features and methods of diagnosis.
Background: Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)-related schwannomatosis is an autosomal dominant tumor-predisposition syndrome characterized by bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VS). In patients with VS associated with NF2, vascular endothelial growth factor A inhibitor, bevacizumab, is a systemic treatment option. The aim of this study is to retrospectively evaluate NF2 patient responses to bevacizumab on VS growth and symptom progression.
