To remove antibiotics from milk effectively, molecularly imprinted AgPO/TiO photocatalysts (MAT) were prepared using sulfamethazine (SMZ) as a template and butyl titanate as a functional monomer. Molecularly imprinted AgPO/TiO films (MATs) were constructed using quartz glass tubes as the carrier. The morphology and structure of MAT, the properties and mechanism of degradation of SMZ by MATs, and the nutrition and safety of milk were evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • * Results showed that a higher PRS was more strongly related to EGFR-positive LUAD cases (OR=8.63) than to EGFR-negative cases (OR=3.50), indicating a significant association based on mutation status.
  • * These findings imply that genetic susceptibility to LUAD differs in never-smoking East Asian women depending on whether the cancer has specific mutations, which could affect public health strategies and clinical practices.*

Proteins are important factors affecting the properties of natural rubber. Therefore, investigating the effect of free and bonded proteins on the structure and mechanical properties of the vulcanized crosslinking network of natural rubber would provide a theoretical basis for the production of high mechanical resistance natural rubber. Herein, natural rubbers with different protein contents and types were prepared by high-speed centrifugation.

The domestic combustion of locally sourced smoky (bituminous) coal in Xuanwei and Fuyuan counties, China, is responsible for some of the highest lung cancer rates in the world. Recent research has pointed to methylated PAHs (mPAHs), particularly 5-methylchrysene (5MC), within coal combustion products as a driving factor. Here we describe measurements of mPAHs in Xuanwei and Fuyuan derived from controlled burnings (i.

  • - The study focused on Sipunculus nudus (S. nudus), a marine invertebrate rich in proteins but limited in application due to its low water solubility and firm texture.
  • - Researchers applied different ultrasound amplitudes to enhance the structure and properties of S. nudus's salt soluble protein (SSP), resulting in smaller particle sizes, increased solubility, and improved functional features like foamability and emulsifiability.
  • - The ultrasound treatment also improved the antioxidant properties of SSP during digestion, suggesting that structural changes in the proteins can enhance their functional and digestive qualities for food applications.

Article Synopsis
  • * The newly developed multi-ancestry PRS showed a strong correlation with LUAD risk, indicating that individuals in the highest PRS percentile had significantly increased risk compared to those in the lowest.
  • * Findings suggest that those in the highest risk category have a lifetime risk of about 6.69%, and they reach the average population's 10-year risk for LUAD by age 41, highlighting the importance of multi-ancestry PRS for better risk assessment in this group.

People are increasingly preparing milk tea using plant-based milks rather than cow's milk, , vegans, those with lactose intolerance, and those with flavor preferences. However, adding plant-based milks to tea may impact the digestion, release, and bioaccessibility of nutrients and nutraceuticals in both the tea and milk. In this study, oat milk tea model systems (OMTMSs) containing different fat and tea polyphenol concentrations were used to explore the impact of tea on macronutrient digestion in oat milk, as well as the impact of oat milk matrix on the polyphenol bioaccessibility in the tea.

Carrier-free nanodelivery systems are fully self-assembled from active ingredients through interactions, offering the advantages of green, safe, and large-scale manufacturing. To improve the dispersion of Citrus × limon 'Rosso' peel essential oil (CEO) in water and boost the biological activity of CEO and tea polyphenols (TP), self-assembled CEO-TP colloidal dispersions (CEO-TP Colloids) were fabricated through sonication without surfactants or carriers. The optimal CEO and TP concentrations in the CEO-TP Colloids were determined to be 10.

Anthocyanin-based smart packaging has been widely used for food freshness monitoring, but it cannot meet the requirements of smart films with antibacterial properties. This study aimed to enhance the antibacterial properties of intelligent films by incorporating essential oil (AEO) for mantis shrimp spoilage tracking and keeping the product fresh. A smart film was designed by introducing AEO and purple potato anthocyanin (PPA) to a polyvinyl alcohol/cellulose nanocrystal (PVA/CNC) polymer matrix.

To minimize condylar positional and morphological changes after mandibular advancement through bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO), surgeons add either a bicortical screw or a two-hole plate distal to the conventional single miniplate. Since there have been no previous studies investigating the effect of this combination, our study aimed to evaluate the short- and long-term effects of these adjunctive fixation methods (AFM) on condylar positional and morphological changes after mandibular advancement through BSSRO. This retrospective cohort study included consecutive patients with retruded mandibles who were treated in the Department of Orthognathic and TMJ Surgery at West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University.

Background: This in vitro study compared the stability of different fixation method combinations for the zygomatic complex after simulated L-shaped osteotomy reduction malarplasty, a common facial contouring surgery in East Asia with high postoperative complications due to poor fixation methods.

Materials And Methods: The study used 108 zygoma replicas with various fixation methods combinations in the zygomatic body (L-shaped plate with short wing on zygoma and on the maxilla, two bicortical screws, one bicortical screw with L-shaped plate, square plate, and rectangular plate) and zygomatic arch (Mortise-Tenon structure, 3-hole plate, and Mortise-Tenon structure plus short screw). The failure force under incremental load was applied through the Instron tensile machine to a well-stabilized model using a rubber band simulating the masseter muscle and recorded the increasing force digitally.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the optimal surgical techniques in reduction malarplasty by comparing the difference between the L-shaped osteotomy with vertical and oblique bone resection.

Methods: A total of 120 patients who visited the authors' department for L-shaped osteotomy with either vertical (group I) or oblique bone resection (group II) from 2015 to 2021 were reviewed retrospectively. The preoperative and postoperative spiral computed tomographic data were analyzed.

This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of L-shaped reduction malarplasty with bone setback or resection on the zygoma and the mortice and tenon joint structure on the zygomatic arch under the guidance of virtual surgical planning (VSP). Adult patients with zygomatic protrusion or hypertrophy were enrolled and divided. L-shaped reduction malarplasty with or without bone resection and with the mortice and tenon joint structure on the zygomatic arch was conducted either by digital procedures comprising VSP and three-dimensional (3D) printing titanium templates (Group I) or by conventional methods (Group II).
