Compound K (CK), an active ingredient in ginseng, has anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. However, its effects on thermogenesis and mitochondrial dynamics in white adipose tissue (WAT) adipocytes are not well understood. This study explores CK's impact on thermogenesis and mitochondrial metabolism in cold-exposed mice and mouse stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are effective alternatives to conventional antibiotics. They protect the host from the constant invasion of a broad range of infectious microorganisms. AMPs have been at the forefront of the response to multidrug-resistant microbial strains and appear to be ideal drug candidates.

Background: Obesity has emerged as a global public health challenge associated with increased risk of hyperlipidemia and hypertension. It contributes to high sympathetic activity and increased catecholamine levels. The hypothalamic melanocortin system is known to regulate the energy homeostasis.

we present the influences of the solvent, concentration, and spin rates of 3,9-bis(2-methylene-(3-(1,1-dicyanomethylene)-indanone))-5,5,11,11-tetrakis(4-hexylphenyl)-dithieno[2,3-d:2',3'-d']-s-indaceno[1,2-b:5,6-b']dithiophene) (ITIC) material on the performances of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The device parameters such as open-circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Jsc), fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) were measured with Keithley 2400 source meter unit under 100 mW/cm (AM 1.5 G).

We previously reported on lactophoricin (LPcin), a cationic α-helical antimicrobial peptide derived from bovine milk, which has antimicrobial effects on as well as Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. In this study, we designed the LPcin-YK3 peptide, a shorter analog of LPcin, and investigated its antimicrobial activity. This peptide, consisting of 15 amino acids with + 3 net charges, was an effective antimicrobial agent against the on the Gram-positive strain, (MIC: 0.

We have previously derived a novel antimicrobial peptide, LPcin-YK3(YK3), based on lactophoricin and have successfully studied and reported on the relationship between its structure and function. In this study, antimicrobial peptides with improved antimicrobial activity, less cytotoxicity, and shorter length were devised and characterized on the basis of YK3, and named YK5, YK8, and YK11. The peptide design was based on a variety of knowledge, and a total of nine analog peptides consisted of one to three amino acid substitutions and C-terminal deletions.

We present an efficient and stable interfacial material based on a water-soluble perylene diimide derivative functionalized with ionic and methacrylate groups (abbreviated as PDIM), which can be stabilized by the photo-polymerization of diacrylate groups at both ends of the side chain in the PDIM. The characteristics of the photo-cross-linked PDIM films were examined using absorption spectra, cyclic voltammetry, work function, and surface morphology. The feasibility of the photo-cross-linked PDIM films as a novel electron transporting layer (ETL) in polymer solar cells (PSCs) was also investigated.

Lactophoricin (LPcin), a component of proteose peptone (113-135) isolated from bovine milk, is a cationic amphipathic antimicrobial peptide consisting of 23 amino acids. We designed a series of N- or C-terminal truncated variants, mutated analogs, and truncated mutated analogs using peptide-engineering techniques. Then, we selected three LPcin analogs of LPcin-C8 (LPcin-YK1), LPcin-T2WT6W (LPcin-YK2), and LPcin-T2WT6W-C8 (LPcin-YK3), which may have better antimicrobial activities than LPcin, and successfully expressed them in E.
