To analyze the efficacy of endoscopic CO₂ laser arytenoidectomy in treating bilateral vocal cord paralysis. Ninety-five patients who underwent endoscopic CO₂ laser arytenoidectomy for bilateral vocal cord paralysis at the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University(Changhai Hospital) of Shanghai from January 2009 to December 2022 were included in this study. Among them, 59 patients underwent endoscopic CO₂ laser arytenoidectomy as their first glottic enlargement surgery(Group A), while 36 patients, who had previously undergone two unsuccessful CO₂ laser-assisted posterior cordotomies, underwent endoscopic CO₂ laser arytenoidectomy as a subsequent surgery(Group B).

Introduction: We aimed to study middle ear barotrauma caused by fast compression followed by buoyant ascent escape from 200 m underwater and its effect on the auditory system, and to validate the preventive effect of tympanocentesis on middle ear barotrauma.
Methods: Twenty Sprague Dawley rats were divided into two groups: rats in group A underwent a simulated fast buoyant ascent escape from a depth of 200 m, while those in group B underwent tympanocentesis before the procedure described for group A. Ear endoscopy, acoustic conductance, and auditory brainstem response (ABR) tests were conducted before and after the procedure to evaluate the severity of middle ear barotrauma and auditory function in both groups.

Methods: Forty-two patients with thyroid carcinoma infiltrating the RLN were recruited for this study and divided into three groups.
Chitin deacetylase (CDA) removes the acetyl group from the chitin molecule to generate chitosan in a uniform, high-quality deacetylation pattern. Herein, BaCDA was a novel CDA discovered from our previously isolated strain TCI-16, which was excavated from mangrove soil. Objective: This study detects the expression of secreted frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) in healthy patients and patients with chronic periodontitis (CP) and explores the relationship between SFRP1 and the occurrence and development of CP.
Methods: First, 28 patients forming the CP group were further divided into mild, moderate, and severe CP subgroups according to clinical attachment loss (CAL) data. Ten healthy volunteers were recruited in the control group.
Increasing evidence suggests that the noncanonical IKKs play critical roles in tumor genesis and development, leading to the notion that noncanonical IKKs may be good targets for cancer therapy. Here, we demonstrate that although TBK1 is not overexpressed or constitutively activated in some tumor cells, targeting IKKi induces the activation of TBK1. Therefore, simultaneously targeting both kinases is necessary to efficiently suppress tumor cell proliferation.
