Neuroprotection is one of the potential therapies for glaucomatous retinal damage. Intravitreal mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) transplantation provides a viable therapeutic option, and human umbilical cord- (hUC-) MSCs are attractive candidates for cell-based neuroprotection.
