Background: Methemoglobinemia can be inherited or acquired. Acquired forms are more common due to drugs or poisonous substances that oxidize hemoglobin, and pesticide-related cases are notably rare.
Case Presentation: We report a 69-year-old woman who ingested 30 mL of tebufenozide and indoxacarb and was asymptomatic for 3 h; however, the patient was admitted to the hospital after 8 h, unconscious, with tachypnea, cyanosis, and 61.
Background: Increased aging and accelerated urbanization have led to the migration of older adults within China. Migrant older adults (MOAs) may experience physical and psychological discomfort in influx cities, and they are a vulnerable group that has emerged in the course of fast urbanization. Previous studies have confirmed the association between oral health and loneliness as well as the relationship between social support and loneliness; however, no research has been done to clarify the underlying mechanisms and the migrant-local difference between oral health, social support, and loneliness.

A total of 270 Belgian cattle (91 BR and 179 BWR) and 286 Qinchuan cattle were genotyped using the Illumina Bovine SNP 50K microarray. Data analysis was conducted using PLINK and Beagle 5.

This study aimed to investigate T2DM-driven alterations in brain functional network connectivity and topology.
Methods: Eighty-five T2DM patients and 67 healthy controls (HCs) were included.
Introduction: Chlorfenapyr, a broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide of the pyrrole-class pesticides, can induce dizziness, fatigue, profuse sweating, and altered consciousness by interfering with cell energy metabolism. However, chlorfenapyr-related rhabdomyolysis has rarely been reported.
Case Presentations: Patient 1 was a healthy 26-year-old man who ingested approximately 30 mL of chlorfenapyr.
This study aimed to investigate the selective effect of the reproductive tract mucus in cows that have consistently produced offspring of a single sex on X/Y spermatozoa. We collected mucus from the reproductive tract of cows that had given calvings to offspring of the same sex, or alternated between sexes, for more than five consecutive calvings. We evaluated the pH of reproductive tract mucus.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4) is the main causative agent of hydropericardium hepatitis syndrome (HHS), which has resulted in huge economic losses to the poultry industry in recent years. Hence, a rapid and simple visual detection method is needed for identification of FAdV-4. In this study, three multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification (MIRA) assays, basic MIRA, MIRA-qPCR and MIRA-LFD were developed for detection of FAdV-4.

Case Summary: A previously healthy 38-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with anuria, mild abdominal distension, and calf pain after ingesting diquat (200 g/L) 100 mL approximately 13 h before presentation. His blood diquat concentration was 8.
Background: This study aimed to clarify medical-nonmedical difference on the relationship between social capital, mental health and digital health literacy of university students in China, and furtherly provide evidence-based suggestions on the improvement of the digital health literacy for the university students.
Methods: The snowball sampling method was used to collect data from the university students (including medical students and nonmedical students) through online questionnaires, and finally 1472 university students were included for the data analysis, of whom, 665 (45.18%) were medical students, 807 (54.
Objectives: This study was to assess the lot-to-lot consistency, immunogenicity and safety of three manufacturing lots of a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4).
Methods: A randomized, double-blind, phase IV clinical trial was conducted in healthy children, adolescents and adults aged 9-59 years in Guizhou Province, China. Eligible participants were enrolled and randomized into three groups in a ratio of 1:1:1 to receive a single dose of one of three manufacturing lots of IIV4.
During poultry immunization, antibiotics are typically added to inactivated oil-adjuvant avian influenza (AI) vaccines. Here, we evaluated the effects of adding ceftiofur, a third-generation cephalosporin, to an AI vaccine on vaccine stability and structure and on chick growth, immune efficacy, blood concentrations, biochemical and immunological indices, and gut microbiota. The results demonstrated that neither aqueous ceftiofur sodium nor ceftiofur hydrochloride oil emulsion formed a stable mixture with the vaccine.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of hematologic patients suffered from mucormycosis and treated with monotherapy [amphotericin B (AmB) or posaconazole] or combination therapy (AmB and posaconazole).
Analyzing the genetic diversity and selection characteristics of sheep (Ovis aries) holds significant value in understanding their environmental adaptability, enhancing breeding efficiency, and achieving effective conservation and rational utilization of genetic resources. In this study, we utilized Illumina Ovine SNP 50 K BeadChip data from four indigenous sheep breeds from the southern margin of the Taklamakan Desert (Duolang sheep: n = 36, Hetian sheep: n = 74, Kunlun sheep: n = 27, Qira black sheep: n = 178) and three foreign meat sheep breeds (Poll Dorset sheep: n = 105, Suffolk sheep: n = 153, Texel sheep: n = 150) to investigate the population structure, genetic diversity, and genomic signals of positive selection within the indigenous sheep. According to the Principal component analysis (PCA), the Neighbor-Joining tree (NJ tree), and Admixture, we revealed distinct clustering patterns of these seven sheep breeds based on their geographical distribution.
