Background: Bronchiectasis is a disease with a global impact, but most published data come from high-income countries. We aimed to describe the clinical characteristics of patients with bronchiectasis in China.
Methods: The Chinese Bronchiectasis Registry (BE-China) is a prospective, observational cohort enrolling patients from 111 hospitals in China.
Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a widely spread respiratory pathogen that can cause infections in multiple tissues and organs. Previous studies have established an association between HAdV species B (HAdV-B) infection and severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP). However, the connection between SCAP-associated HAdV-B infection and host factor expression profile in patients has not been systematically investigated.

Efficacy and safety of IMI/REL were studied in critically ill adults with hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP) or ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP).
Methods: In this phase III, double-blind, multinational, randomized trial (NCT03583333), adults with HABP/VABP were randomized 1:1 to receive intravenous IMI/REL (500 mg/250 mg) or piperacillin/tazobactam (PIP/TAZ; 4000 mg/500 mg) every 6 h for 7-14 days.
Rationale: The Bronchiectasis Health Questionnaire (BHQ) is a concise, self-administered and disease-specific instrument for measuring health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) in bronchiectasis.
Objectives: To investigate the psychometric properties of simplified Mandarin BHQ and determine the minimum clinically important difference (MCID) as a reliable clinical endpoint for assessing the efficacy of bronchiectasis treatments.
Methods: A longitudinal, randomized controlled trial cohort of 357 patients treated with tobramycin inhalation solution or saline inhalation for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection, along with a cross-sectional observational cohort including 436 patients with bronchiectasis were analyzed.
Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis is a progressive respiratory disease with limited treatment options, prompting the exploration of regenerative therapies. This study investigates the safety and efficacy of autologous P63 progenitor cell transplantation in a randomized, single-blind, controlled, phase 1/2 trial. Thirty-seven patients receive bronchoscopic airway clearance (B-ACT) (n = 19) or B-ACT plus P63 progenitor cells (n = 18).

Methods: This observational, real-world study included patients who received tixagevimab/cilgavimab from July 9 to December 30, 2022, in Hainan, China. Here, we report the baseline and characteristics and interim analysis results of the clinical outcomes in those receiving at least one dose of tixagevimab/cilgavimab (300 mg) for pre-exposure prophylaxis.
Monitoring the concentration of antibiotics rapidly and cost-effectively is crucial for accurate clinical medication and timely identification of drug-induced illnesses. Here, we constructed a novel fluorescent assay kit to monitor Zavicefta, an effective antibiotic composed of avibactam (AVI) and ceftazidime (CFZ) to treat carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacteria infections. AVI can emit fluorescence, but CFZ cannot.

Methods: We utilized Lasso regression on assembled genomes to identify genetic resistance determinants for six antibiotics (Gentamicin, Tobramycin, Imipenem, Meropenem, Ceftazidime, Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole). The genetic features were weighted, grouped into clusters to establish classifier models.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been wreaking havoc for 3 years. PANoptosis, a distinct and physiologically relevant inflammatory programmed cell death, perpetuates cytokine storm and multi-organ injuries in COVID-19. Although PANoptosis performs indispensable roles in host defense, further investigation is needed to elucidate the exact processes through which PANoptosis modulates immunological responses and prognosis in COVID-19.

Initiating antibiotics early may lead to the eradication of PA. Here we outline the design of a trial (ERASE; NCT06093191) assessing the efficacy and safety of inhaled tobramycin, alone or with oral ciprofloxacin, in bronchiectasis patients with a new isolation of PA.

The pandemic is considered a significant threat to global public health till now. In this review, we have summarized the lessons learnt during the emergence and spread of SARS-CoV-2, including its prototype and variants.

ARDS was especially apparent and rampant during the COVID-19 pandemic. Excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and an uncontrolled inflammatory response play a critical role in the disease progression of ARDS.

In comparison to self-transmissible conjugative plasmids, mobilizable plasmids have received much less attention due to their defects in conjugative elements. However, the contribution of mobilizable plasmids to the horizontal transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes and virulence genes of K.

Thirteen hemodialysis patients infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 from April 3 to May 30, 2022, were recruited. Laboratory parameters and chest CT (computed tomography) imaging were analyzed.

We aimed to explore the efficacy of hydrogen/oxygen therapy in favoring the recovery of Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant infection. There were 64 patients who randomly assigned to receive hydrogen/oxygen inhalation (32 patients) and oxygen inhalation (32 patients).

The aim of this study is to investigate whether baseline symptoms, assessed using the Quality-of-Life Bronchiectasis Respiratory Symptom Scale (QoL-B-RSS) and its individual component scores, could predict future exacerbation risk in patients with bronchiectasis. The study included 436 adults with bronchiectasis from three tertiary hospitals.

Objectives: By the end of 2022, China had made a pivotal decision to optimize the COVID-19 policy. The dominant Omicron variant in China at that time was highly transmissible. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the real-world safety and efficacy of tixagevimab and cilgavimab against this background in China.

However, Chinese medical institutions have not yet fully used or improperly used thromboprophylaxis. The effectiveness of information technology applied to thromboprophylaxis in hospitalised patients has been proved in many retrospective studies, lacking of prospective research evidence.

Yet, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. During the 2022 Omicron outbreak in Shanghai, we enrolled 122 infected adults and 50 uninfected controls who had been unvaccinated or vaccinated with two or three doses of COVID-19 inactive vaccines and performed integrative analysis of 41-plex CyTOF, RNA-seq, and Olink on their peripheral blood samples.

However, it remains unclear whether the CARD9S12N mutation, especially the heterozygous occurrence, predisposes the host to ABPA.
