Double-negative feedback loop between long non-coding RNA TUG1 and miR-145 promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition and radioresistance in human bladder cancer cells.

LncRNAs have a critical role in the regulation of cellular processes such as cancer progression and metastasis. In the present study, we confirmed that TUG1 was overexpressed in bladder cancer tissues and established cell lines. Knockdown of TUG1 inhibited bladder cancer cell metastasis both in vitro and in vivo.

[Prophylactic irradiation at the level Ib for nasopharyngeal carcinoma: should that be a routine?].

Objective: To assess the necessity of routine prophylactic irradiation at the level Ib for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Methods: Newly diagnosed NPC patients between January, 2001 and June, 2005 were enrolled in this study. The nodal distribution in each region was calculated from the data of transversal contrast enhance CT or magnetic resonance scan of the head and neck.

[A randomized clinical trial on taxol plus oxaliplatin versus taxol plus cisplatin as first-line treatment in advanced non-small cell lung cancer].

Background: Paclitaxel plus cisplatin is an effective regimen in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but it has severe adverse toxicities. The aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effect and safety of paclitaxel plus oxaliplatin compared with paclitaxel plus cisplatin in the treatment of advanced NSCLC.

Methods: From January, 2002 to October, 2004, 83 initially treated patients with advanced NSCLC were randomized into two groups: the trial group was treated with paclitaxel 175mg/m², and oxaliplatin 130mg/m² on day 1;and the control group was treated with paclitaxel 175mg/m² and cisplatin 80mg/m² on day 1.
