The red imported fire ant Buren (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) is native to South America; however, its introduction to other countries has caused serious biodiversity, agricultural, and public health problems. As toxic bait is an effective method to control fire ant populations, the aim of this study was to determine the most effective concentration of sulfoxaflor, flupyradifurone, and triflumezopyrim as ingredients for baits against under laboratory and field conditions. Sulfoxaflor, flupyradifurone, and triflumezopyrim had no effect on the feeding behavior of the fire ants.

Chemicals, including toxic bait and dusts, are the main means of controlling the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta (abbreviation 'RIFA'), which is a serious invasive pest. To identify environmentally friendly chemicals for controlling RIFA, we tested the toxicity and horizontal transfer of three botanical insecticides-matrine, rotenone, and pyrethrin-and their impact on aquatic organisms (i.e.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between brain structure and prospective memory (ProM) in non-demented individuals with memory concerns, aiming to distinguish between subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
  • Researchers assessed 37 participants aged over 50 using neuropsychological tests and advanced imaging techniques to analyze brain connectivity related to ProM performance types: time-based and event-based.
  • Findings reveal significant correlations between specific brain structures and ProM performance, with event-based memory strongly linked to the left superior longitudinal fasciculus and the genu of the corpus callosum, especially in those with MCI.
