Objectives: This study aimed to explore the concordance in advance care planning (ACP) discussions between patients with advanced cancer and surrogate decision makers within an oncology ward.

Design: Purposive and snowball sampling methods were used in this qualitative study, which involved conducting semistructured interviews to gather patients with advanced cancer and their surrogate decision makers. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was performed on the interview data to identify commonalities and differences in ACP discussions and to explore the factors influencing these differences.

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to assess the level of caring behaviour among clinical nurses in Southern China and explore its influencing factors. The study was carried out in the Sixth Affiliated Hospital, South China University of Technology, Guangdong, China, from December 2022 to February 2023. A total of 537 nurses participated, and the mean scores for caring behaviour, responsibility perception, and inclusive leadership were examined.

The Mulibrey (Muscle-liver-brain-eye) nanism caused by loss-of-function variants in TRIM37 gene is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe growth failure and constrictive pericarditis. These patients also suffer from severe respiratory infections, co-incident with an increased mortality rate. Here, we revealed that TRIM37 variants were associated with recurrent infection.

After antigen stimulation, T cells preferentially increase aerobic glycolysis to meet the bioenergetic and biosynthetic demands of T cell activation, proliferation, and effector functions. Lactate, a by-product of glycolysis, has been reported to function as an important energy source and signaling molecule. Here, we found that lactate anions are involved in cytokine production in T cells after TCR activation.
