Selective dehydrogenative C-H silylation is one of the most powerful tools to synthesize silacycles. Herein, we developed Ru-catalyzed sequential hydrosilylation/C-H silylation of allyl-indoles and dehydrogenative O-H/C-H silylation of pyrrole phenols. Both six-membered indole silacycles and pyrrole silyl ether cycles were successfully synthesized with good functional group tolerance.

Selective C-H annulation with alkynes is one of the most useful tools to synthesize heterocycles. Herein, we developed novel porous organic polymers supported ruthenium (POPs-Ru) as highly efficient catalysts for cascade aromatization of quinoxalin-2(1)-one and C-H annulation with alkynes. Both terminal and internal alkynes were successfully transferred to furo[2,3]quinoxaline derivatives with good functional group tolerance and high regioselectivity by using POPs-Ru catalysts.

Selective dehydrogenative silylation is one of the most valuable tools for synthesizing organosilicon compounds. In this study, a regio- and stereoselective ruthenium-catalyzed dehydrogenative intermolecular silylation was firstly developed to access ()-alkenyl silyl-ether derivatives and silyl-ether heterocycles with good functional group tolerance. Furthermore, two pathways for RuH(CO)(PPh)/NBE-catalyzed dehydrogenative intermolecular silylation of alcohols and alkenes as well as intermolecular silylation of naphthol derivatives were investigated with HSiEt as the hydrosilane reagent.

Radar is an extremely valuable sensing technology for detecting moving targets and measuring their range, velocity, and angular positions. When people are monitored at home, radar is more likely to be accepted by end-users, as they already use WiFi, is perceived as privacy-preserving compared to cameras, and does not require user compliance as wearable sensors do. Furthermore, it is not affected by lighting condi-tions nor requires artificial lights that could cause discomfort in the home environment.

Regional economic power and local environmental policies have a substantial impact on pollution reduction in urban agglomerations (UAs); however, whether megacities in UAs exert spillover effects of pollution reduction on surrounding cities remains unknown. This study presents a causal analytic framework to evaluate the spillover effects of megacities on regional industrial pollution reduction in three major UAs in China between 2005 and 2016. The interaction between industrial pollution reduction and infrastructure investment indicators was also examined.

Confirming the origin of Gilbert damping by experiment has remained a challenge for many decades, even for simple ferromagnetic metals. Here, we experimentally identify Gilbert damping that increases with decreasing electronic scattering in epitaxial thin films of pure Fe. This observation of conductivitylike damping, which cannot be accounted for by classical eddy-current loss, is in excellent quantitative agreement with theoretical predictions of Gilbert damping due to intraband scattering.

Rhizosphere microorganisms play an important role in the interactions of many species in the rhizosphere, including soil nematodes. One hundred strains of rhizosphere actinomycetes were screened in vitro for their effects on the chemotactic behavior of the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. Volatile compounds produced by the strain Streptomyces plicatus G demonstrated both strong attractant and repellent activities towards M.

Magneto-elasto-electric (ME) coupling heterostructures, consisting of piezoelectric layers bonded to magnetostrictive ones, provide for a new class of electromagnetic emitter materials on which a portable (area ~ 16 cm²) very low frequency (VLF) transmitter technology could be developed. The proposed ME transmitter functions as follows: (a) a piezoelectric layer is first driven by alternating current AC electric voltage at its electromechanical resonance (EMR) frequency, (b) subsequently, this EMR excites the magnetostrictive layers, giving rise to magnetization change, (c) in turn, the magnetization oscillations result in oscillating magnetic fields. By Maxwell's equations, a corresponding electric field, is also generated, leading to electromagnetic field propagation.

Background: The widespread use of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has led to considerable concerns about the prevalence of transmitted drug resistance (TDR). Sexual contact, particularly men who have sex with men (MSM) was the most prevalent form of HIV transmission in Shijiazhuang. Hence, we conducted an epidemiological surveillance study on TDR among newly diagnosed individuals who infected-HIV through sexual contact in from 2014-2015.

We have deposited self-assembled BiFeO-CoFeO (BFO-CFO) thin films on (100)-oriented SrRuO-buffered Pb(MgNb)TiO (PMN-38PT) single crystal substrates. These heterostructures were used for the study of real-time changes in the magnetization with applied DC electric field (E ). With increasing E , a giant magnetization change was observed along the out-of-plane (easy) axis.

The coupling between the tetragonal phase (T-phase) of BiFeO (BFO) and CoFeO (CFO) in magnetoelectric heterostructures has been studied. Bilayers of CFO and BFO were deposited on (001) LaAlO single crystal substrates by pulsed laser deposition. After 30 min of annealing, the CFO top layer exhibited a T-phase-like structure, developing a platform-like morphology with BFO.

Magnetoelectric composite thin films hold substantial promise for applications in novel multifunctional devices. However, there are presently shortcomings for both the extensively studied bilayer epitaxial (2-2) and vertically architectured nanocomposite (1-3) film systems, restricting their applications. Here we design a novel growth strategy to fabricate an architectured nanocomposite heterostructure with magnetic quasiparticles (0) embedded in a ferroelectric film matrix (3) by alternately growing (2-2) and (1-3) layers within the film.
