Bee pollen, a rich nutritional food, was employed to develop a raw material for skin whitening. The polyphenol profile and antioxidant, antityrosinase, and anti-melanogenesis activities of the ethanol extracts of five species of bee pollens (EEBPs) were determined. The results showed that there were a total of 121 phenolic compounds in these EEBPs.

High-strength bolt connectors, known for their robust strength and ease of disassembly, are suitable not only for the construction of new steel-concrete composite beams but also for reinforcing existing composite or steel beams. Static push-out tests were performed on nine specimens to examine their shear behavior. The primary failure mode was observed at the steel-concrete interface, characterized by the tensile-shear failure of the bolt and localized crushing of the concrete beneath the bolt.

The low expression level of HASs in normal keratinocytes and other various types of cells presents a recognized challenge, impeding biological and pathological research on their localization. In this study, the human proteins HAS1, HAS2, and HAS3 with fused maltose-binding protein (MBP) tags were successfully expressed at high levels and purified for the first time in HEK293F cells.

Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) modification of proteins after translation is related to the cell stress response but the relationship between SUMO modification and oxidative stress in freeze-thawed sperm remains unclear. A-kinase ankyrin 4 (AKAP4) and its precursor proAKAP4 are two main proteins in mammalian sperm.

Methods: Twenty-nine participants diagnosed with PCV by indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and 30 participants diagnosed with typical neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) were enrolled. Polyps were classified into three categories after using the slab-specific PR algorithm.
Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is a multifactorial and heterogeneous disease, ranking among the most prevalent malignancies in men. In 2020, there were 1,414,259 new cases of PCa worldwide, accounting for 7.3% of all malignant tumors.

Background: Recent evidence suggests a crucial biological role for Circular RNAs (circRNAs) in keloid diseases, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study explored the biological effects and molecular mechanisms of hsa_circ_0002198 in keloid formation.
Methods: Real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) was employed to assess the expression of circ_0002198 in keloid tissues, normal skin tissues, keloid fibroblasts (KFs), and normal skin fibroblasts (NFs) from nine patients.
Aims: To explore the effect of plasma homocysteine (Hcy) on cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) among Chinses adults.
Methods: This study combined a community-based cross-sectional study with a 1:1 matched case-control study using propensity score method among adults aged over 30 years in six districts randomly selected from Hunan Province, China. We recruited 5,258 people, of whom 4,012 met the study criteria were enrolled.
The hydraulic column is a core component in the coal mine support system, however, the real-time monitoring of the hydraulic column during the service process of the hydraulic support faces challenges. To address these issues, a high-precision stress mapping method of hydraulic column is proposed. The hydraulic column loss function was constructed to guide the data-driven model training, and the cylinder stress mechanism model was established by using the elastic-plastic theory of thick-walled cylinder.

The effectiveness of intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) targeting the right dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex (rDLPFC) remains unclear.
Methods: Thirty-six participants with MCI were randomly allocated to receive real (n = 18) or sham (n = 18) iTBS.
The mechanisms underlying three thermal processing methods, namely hot-air drying, microwave irradiation, and heat fluidization, were systematically investigated to evaluate their effects on the structural, functional, and flour-processing properties of whole-grain highland barley. Starch granules were partially damaged when treated with hot-air drying and microwave irradiation. However, these granules were predominantly aggregated or encapsulated in proteins following heat fluidization.

STAT3 upregulates the transcription of the key epithelial-mesenchymal transition transcription factor SNAIL in a DNA binding-independent manner. However, the mechanism by which STAT3 is recruited to the SNAIL promoter to upregulate its expression is still elusive.

Previous studies have shown that Galectin-8 (GAL8) DNA methylation level is associated with sudden death of coronary heart disease or acute events of coronary heart disease. However, the mechanism of GAL8 DNA methylation and gene expression in AS has not been elucidated, prompting us to carry out further research on it.

Moreover, the migration instability and cytotoxicity of photo initiators are posing issues to human health and the environment. In this work, we discovered an initiator-free photo polycondensation system (IFPPC) between polymercaptans and aldehyde monomers, producing high strength plastic materials with exchangeable and degradable dithioacetal groups.

However, transition metal substrates typically exhibit nonoriented behaviors, leading to the inability to achieve monolingual responses with P- or N-type semiconductors. Here we devise symmetry engineering in an oxidized architectural MXene, termed OXene, which implements the exploiting and coupling of additional out-of-plane electron conduction and built-in polar structures.

Studies indicate that taking low-dose aspirin before the 16th week of pregnancy may prevent approximately 70 % of PE cases, highlighting the importance of predicting PE. Cell-free RNA (cf-RNA) exhibits significant changes in the maternal peripheral blood during early pregnancy, making cf-RNA analysis a promising and less invasive method for predicting PE.

Low temperature is a limiting environmental factor for tea plant growth and development. CBL-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs) are important components of the calcium pathway and involved in plant development and stress responses. Herein, we report the function and regulatory mechanisms of a low-temperature-inducible gene, CsCIPK20, in tea plants.

Carbon-based substrates can release from microplastics and contribute to terrestrial carbon pools, but how these emerging organic compounds influence carbon mineralization and sequestration remains unknown. Plant-specific GRAS transcription factors are involved in many different aspects of plant growth and development, as well as in biotic and abiotic stress responses, although whether and how they participate in salt stress tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa) remains unclear. A screen of a previously generated set of activation-tagged lines revealed that Activation Tagging Line 63 (AC63) displayed a salt stress-sensitive phenotype.

Herein, we report our synthetic and chemical proteomics studies of cyclopiane diterpenes which culminate in the asymmetric total synthesis of conidiogenones C, K and 12β-hydroxy conidiogenone C, and identification of Immunity-related GTPase family M protein 1 (IRGM1) as a cellular target. Our asymmetric synthesis commences from Wieland-Miescher ketone and features a sequential intramolecular Pauson-Khand reaction and gold-catalyzed Nazarov cyclization to rapidly construct the 6-5-5-5 tetracyclic skeleton.

AMP has anti-inflammatory and vascular relaxant properties, while ADO has a strong immunosuppressive effect, suggesting that CD73 has pro-inflammatory and immune escape effects. However, CD73 also decreased proinflammatory reaction, suggesting that CD73 has a positive side to the body.
