In physical spaces, pointing interactions cannot rely on cursors, rays, or virtual hands for feedback as in virtual environments; users must rely solely on their perception and experience to capture targets. Currently, research on modeling target distribution for pointing interactions in physical space is relatively sparse. Area division is typically simplistic, and theoretical models are lacking.

Cognitive control has been investigated in attentional conflict tasks for a long time. One representative phenomenon of adaptive cognitive control in these tasks is the congruency sequence effect (CSE), which means that a previous conflict will lead to reduced congruency effects at the current moment, reflecting increased control of attention toward the task at hand. One debating question is whether CSE can generalize between different conditions.

Based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, we have proposed a novel machine learning algorithm that combines factors of the environment and its own needs to make decisions for different states of an agent. This means it can be applied to the gait generation of a quadruped robot, which needs to make demand decisions. To evaluate the design, we created an experimental task in order to compare the needs learning algorithm with a reinforcement learning algorithm, which was also derived from psychological motivation theory.

Beetle Antennae Search algorithm is a kind of intelligent optimization algorithms, which has the advantages of few parameters and simplicity. However, due to its inherent limitations, BAS has poor performance in complex optimization problems. The existing improvements of BAS are mainly based on the utilization of multiple beetles or combining BAS with other algorithms.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic disease characterized by mucosal and submucosal inflammation, which has a low cure rate and is prone to relapse, due to the immune imbalance of the body. Inhibition of inflammation-related pathways can delay the progression of UC. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway is considered to be one of the important signaling pathways involved in colon inflammation.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) increased the risk of developing pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common neoplastic disease originating from the pancreas. Increasing evidence indicates that platelets activation plays a prominent role in tumor and T2DM.

Background: The gut microbiota is involved in the occurrence and development of chronic liver diseases. Zonulin is considered a marker of intestinal permeability. The purpose of this study was to assess zonulin levels in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), HBV-associated liver cirrhosis (LC), and HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Background: Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) having pre-existing type 2 diabetes (T2DM) have a poorer prognosis than those without T2DM. Moreover, accumulating evidence reveals that activated platelets play a crucial role in tumor and T2DM. The mean platelet volume (MPV) indicates platelet activation and is altered in malignancies.

Most pancreatic cancer (PC) patients manifest multiple liver metastases at the time of diagnosis. Activated platelets play a key role in tumor growth and tumor metastases. Mean platelet volume (MPV) is a platelet index and is altered in patients with malignancies.

BACKGROUND Gallstones are associated with dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, hyperinsulinemia, and carotid intima-media thickness, which all are related to hyperviscosity. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the associations between blood viscosity and gallstones. MATERIAL AND METHODS We investigated the associations between blood viscosity and gallstones in a study conducted in middle-aged subjects.

Background: Endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy (ERAT) is a new procedure for the treatment of acute uncomplicated appendicitis. The aim of the study was to review the clinical outcomes of ERAT and further examine its effectiveness and safety.

Methods: The study was performed on patients who underwent ERAT for acute uncomplicated appendicitis at three tertiary hospitals in China from December 2009 to May 2013.

Background: Inspired by the success of ERCP for the treatment of suppurative cholangitis, we investigated a new minimally invasive method for the treatment of acute uncomplicated appendicitis, which we call endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy for the treatment of acute uncomplicated appendicitis.

Design And Setting: A retrospective, single-center study at an academic medical center.

Background And Aims: Based on our experience with endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and new endoscopic techniques for endoscopic closure of iatrogenic upper gastrointestinal (upper-GI) perforations, we developed methods to remove upper-GI subepithelial tumors (SETs) originating from the muscularis propria by endoscopic muscularis dissection (EMD). The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical feasibility and safety of EMD.

Methods: 31 patients with upper-GI SETs originating from the muscularis propria were treated by EMD.

To demonstrate in vivo tumor growth inhibition, the liver cancer cell lines HepG2, BEL7402, and SMMC7721 were independently inoculated into the livers of 45 6-week-old nude mice. After 24 h, mice were randomly divided into celecoxib (intragastric celecoxib suspension, 300 mg/kg), negative control (equal volume intragastric saline), and positive control (intraperitoneal injection of 6 mg/kg doxorubicin) and treated once per day for 3 days. Body weights, tumor diameters, and tumor expressions of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and c-Met were determined at 23 days posttreatments.

Purpose: To compare the safety and efficiency of conventional monopolar, plasmakinetic and holmium laser transurethral resection of bladder tumor (CM-TURBT, PK-TURBT and HoL-TURBT) while managing primary non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Patients And Methods: From 2005 to 2009, 173 patients with primary non-muscle invasive bladder cancer underwent endoscopic surgery. Among them, 51 patients underwent CM-TURBT, 58 patients underwent PK-TURBT, and 64 patients underwent HoL-TURBT.
