Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are rare tumors with a 1-2 incidence per 100,000 individuals. CBTs may initially present without apparent symptoms, and symptoms begin to arise since tumors grow bigger to compress surrounding tissue, such as recurrent laryngeal nerve and esophagus. Also, the etiology of CBTs remains unclear since it is more likely to occur in those who live in high-altitude areas or suffer from chronic hypoxic diseases such as COPD.

The purpose of this study was to compare ESIN and K-wire techniques used in metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction (MDJ) fractures of the pediatric distal radius.
Methods: The data of patients who were treated at a children's hospital affiliated with Shandong University between August 2018 and January 2022 were analyzed retrospectively.
Introduction: The role of vitamin C in pediatric fractures has not received much attention, although it is known to be a factor in osteoporotic fractures in the elderly. This case-control study aimed to investigate the changes in serum vitamin C levels among children with limb fractures.
Methods: We recruited 325 children with and 316 children without limb fractures hospitalized between January 2021 and December 2021.
Background: We aimed to compare the clinical characteristics of acute osteomyelitis caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) in children.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 64 children treated between September 2017 and June 2021. Based on the bacterial culture results, they were divided into MRSA and MSSA infection groups.
Background: The aim of the study was to compare the dynamic defocus curve on patients post-implantation of the extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) and monofocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Methods: A total of 62 age-related cataract patients receiving phacoemulsification with implantation of TECNIS Symfony (ZXR00) or monofocal IOLs were enrolled. The binocular static and dynamic defocus curves with corrected distance visual acuity were evaluated at one month postoperatively.
This study was designed to investigate the potential effects of chronic stress on periodontal bone remodeling and its mechanism during orthodontic tooth movement in rats. Forty-eight male SD rats aged 8 weeks were randomly divided into control group and chronic stress group. Chronic unpredictable mild stress model (CUMS) was established in the stress group, which was validated by behavioral experiment as well as cortisol (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) levels.
