Photoaging is common and represents one of the primary pathways for hair damage in daily life. Hydrolyzed keratin, which is usually derived from wool and consists of a series of polypeptide molecules, has been investigated as a UV damage prevention ingredient for hair care. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and fluorescent penetration experiments verified that hydrolyzed keratin can deposit on the hair cuticles to form a film and partly penetrate into the hair cortex.

Background: Due to their potent immunomodulatory effects, herbal polysaccharides, are used as immunomodulators in combination with other anti-tumor therapies, demonstrate potential in the treatment of tumors.

Methods: In this paper, we simulated the immune cycle of immunogenic cell death (ICD) in vitro to investigate the regulatory mechanism of four different polysaccharides-mediated "immuno-photothermal" combination therapies on the immune cycle of ICD, and validated it in vivo.

Results: The experimental results showed that the combination therapy strategies mediated by four different polysaccharides (excluding Poria cocos mushroom polysaccharides) could significantly increase the expression and release of ICD markers in tumor cells (4 T1), which was conducive to enhancing the "immune starting point" of ICD.

The current mechanism by which aging reduces salivary secretion is unknown. This study investigates the mechanism of aging-related submandibular (SMG) dysfunction and evaluates the therapeutic potential of dental pulp stem cell-derived exosomes (DPSC-exos). We found that the stimulated salivary flow rate was significantly reduced in naturally aging and D-galactose-induced aging mice (D-gal mice) compared to control mice.

Both minimal change disease (MCD) and focal segmental glomerular sclerosis (FSGS) are the pathological types of primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) and cannot be readily distinguished owing to their highly similar clinical presentations. Currently, methods for clinical MCD and FSGS diagnosis still rely on invasive renal biopsy which impede rapid and accurate diagnosis for timely treatment management. In this study, a novel diagnostic strategy by introducing the dyes with spironolactone structure into the metal-organic cage to construct three dye@MOCs composites has been developed and employed as fluorescence sensor array for assisting in the auxiliary differential diagnosis of MCD and FSGS based on the distinguishable biothiols in urine.

Activation of the DNA damage checkpoint upon genotoxin treatment induces a multitude of cellular changes, such as cell cycle arrest or delay, to cope with genome stress. After prolonged genotoxin treatment, the checkpoint can be downregulated to allow cell cycle and growth resumption. The morpholine heterocycle is a structural unit found in many bioactive compounds and FDA-approved drugs, but the generation of more complex C-functionalized morpholine derivatives remains considerably underexplored. Using systematic chemical diversity (SCD), a concept that guides the expansion of saturated drug-like scaffolds through regiochemical and stereochemical variation, we describe the synthesis of a collection of methyl-substituted morpholine acetic acid esters starting from enantiomerically pure amino acids and amino alcohols. In total, 24 diverse substituted morpholines were produced that vary systematically in regiochemistry and stereochemistry (relative and absolute).

With the judicious selection of a designed polycarboxylate derived from L-phenylalanine, (S)-5-(((1-carboxy-2-phenylethyl)amino)methyl)isophthalic acid (HL), a novel homochiral metal-organic framework decorated with a free carboxyl, {[Cu(HL)(bipy)]∙2HO} (Cu-MOF), has been designed and synthesized in a solvothermal process. The result of single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that Cu-MOF had the character of a three-dimensional structure with helical chirality. As we expected, in Cu-MOF, one accessible free carboxylic acid group on HL pointed toward the spiral channels, and the other two -COOH groups were utilized in bonding.
