Material challenges are the key issue in Majorana research, where surface disorder constrains device performance. Here, we tackle this challenge by embedding PbTe nanowires within a lattice-constant-matched crystal. The wire edges are shaped by self-organized growth instead of lithography, resulting in nearly atomically flat facets along both cross-sectional and longitudinal directions.

Objective: Severe asthma (SA) is a serious disease with limited treatment options, which is closely linked to immune dysfunction. Therefore, immune-associated biomarkers may diagnose SA and offer therapeutic targets for SA.

Methods: The gene expression profiles of SA patients and matched controls were from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database.

Degeneracy and symmetry have a profound relation in quantum systems. Here, we report gate-tunable subband degeneracy in PbTe nanowires with a nearly symmetric cross-sectional shape. The degeneracy is revealed in electron transport by the absence of a quantized plateau.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are trying to understand if certain immune cells play a role in causing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • They studied a large group of people and looked at many immune traits and genetic data to see if there is a connection between these traits and ADHD.
  • The research found three specific immune cell types that might be linked to a higher risk of ADHD, but ADHD itself didn't seem to have a strong effect on these immune cells.

Planar Josephson junctions are predicted to host Majorana zero modes. The material platforms in previous studies are two-dimensional electron gases (InAs, InSb, InAsSb, and HgTe) coupled to a superconductor such as Al or Nb. Here, we introduce a new material platform for planar JJs, the PbTe-Pb hybrid.

Monitoring microvascular structure and function is of great significance for the diagnosis of many diseases. In this study, we demonstrate the feasibility of OR-PAM to nailbed microcirculation detection as a new, to the best of our knowledge, application scenario in humans. We propose a dual-wavelength optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy (OR-PAM) with improved local-flexible coupling to image human nailbed microvasculature.
