Improving soil properties and Sesbania growth through combined organic amendment strategies in a coastal saline-alkali soil.

Improving the quality of degraded coastal saline-alkali soil and promoting plant growth are key challenges in the restoration of ecological functions in coastal regions. Organic ameliorants such as effective microbial (EM) agent, biochar, and organic compost have been proposed as sustainable solutions, but limited research has explored the combined effects of these amendments. This study investigates five organic improvement strategies: individual applications of EM, corn straw biochar (CSB), and sewage sludge-reed straw compost (COM), along with combined treatments of CSB + EM and COM + EM, on Sesbania growth in a pot experiment.

Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of the Cyclopiane Family of Diterpenoid Natural Products.

A three-stage chemoenzymatic synthesis of the cyclopiane family and related diterpenes is reported. Deoxyconidiogenol with a 6/5/5/5-fused tetracyclic cyclopiane skeleton was first produced by an engineered E. coli host harboring the corresponding terpene cyclase PchDS.

Microstructure and Texture Characterization of Duplex Stainless Steel Joints Welded by Alternating Magnetic Field-Assisted Hybrid Laser-GMAW Welding.

In this study, 2205 duplex stainless steel with 12 mm thickness was welded by alternating magnetic field-assisted laser arc hybrid welding. The effect of an alternating magnetic field on the proportion distribution of two phases of the welded joint was investigated. The texture distribution, grain boundary misorientation, and grain size of welded joints were analyzed and characterized.
